The excitement continues to build as Zornheym release the second single, 'A Silent God', from their eagerly awaited debut full length 'Where Hatred Dwells And Darkness Reigns'.

For anyone who may be unaware of just who they are, here's a quick recap.

Zornheym are a Symphonic Extreme Metal band based in Stockholm, founded and led by multi-instrumental mastermind and songwriter Zorn (ex-Dark Funeral) and their whole 'raison d'être' is to create stunning music that will shake up the traditional Metal meets Symphony approach, something they are already doing with both this single and the hugely successful predecessor, 'The Opposed', both forerunners to the release on 4th November to the full length 'Where Hatred Dwells....', an all encompassing and ambitious idea for a dramatic musical and cinematic narrative revolving around the horrors of a mental institution and its prisoners, not just a concept album but a concept band, all of which are part of the bigger picture and sound-wise Zornheym start at the point where most symphonic Extreme Metal bands stop.

For 'A Silent God' there is a slight drop in tempo and a more sinister feel to the track but the same superb quality, a bewitching blend of sublime symphonics from a live string section, 'Dies Iona Ensemble', offset against a brutal gargling vocal delivery from Bendler, intense blackened riffing, haunting chorals, again from a full choir and backing vocals and sublime lead-work, yet another piece that is richly layered to epic proportions.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pretty excited about the upcoming 4th November release after hearing this second track. This album is starting to shape up superbly, the whole package has been recorded and mastered by Sverker Widgren, a renowned veteran of sound engineering on the Scandinavian Extreme Metal scene (October Tide, Demonical, IXXI, Diabolical) but I'll leave the final word with Zorn, the mastermind behind it all.

"The second taste of Zornheym! Prepare for more epic orchestration and a continuation into the depths of madness as we invite you to meet the Silent God of Zornheim."
