bloodshot dawn

UK groove death Metallers 'Bloodshot Dawn' have always been an ambitious and driven band from their inception, a fact that remains true with the release of their latest full length 'Reanimation'.

The album has blown me away once again, as did their two predecessors; 2012's self titled release and 'Demons' in 2014.

The band have seen extensive line-up changes with founder Josh McMorran on guitar and vocals as the only remaining original member, now joined by Canadian shredder Morgan Reid who has also been involved in the writing process as well as additional vocals.

James Stewart of Vader fame on drums and new bass player Giacomo Gastaldi complete the line-up but the sound remains as familiar, as ferocious and technically excellent as ever.

'Reanimation' is a heady blend of sumptuous complex soaring leads contrasted against crushing groovy riffs manifesting as ten tracks spanning forty- four minutes with a futuristic sci-fi theme.

It boasts prominent guest appearances including Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore), Paul Wardingham, Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams, The Faceless) and Mendel Bij De Leij (Aborted).

It's difficult to pick favourite tracks across an album of this consistently high a standard. Opening like a swirling tornado with 'Seared Earth' sets the standard that is maintained until the final, title track the blistering 'Reanimated' and is such an engaging listen you are just caught up in the whole aspect.

The complexity of this release demands that you give it three or four spins just to allow your brain to process it enough to fully appreciate what you are hearing, such is the depth and intricate nature of the album and the lead work will send shivers down your spine, it's that good.
