Vallenfyre return with full length number three, 'Fear Those Who Fear Him', and whereas 2011s 'Fragile King' dealt with personal matters and 2014s 'Splinters' was in some ways a partial retrospective look at those personal matters, this time around Gregor says it's just him "complaining about everything and everyone", but if this is the sound of complaining, keep doing it because the world needs more of it and I for one love it.

The line-up now only includes two original members, Gregor and Hamish with the addition of Paradise Lost's drummer Waltteri doing a manically good job on "battery duties", a combination that works well.

It's an album of extremes with tracks that range from crushingly slow, such as the bleak and heavy 'An Apathetic Grave' to the short sharp and punishingly fast 'Nihilist' with its killer opening shred which heralds an insanely fast tempo and those shreds emerge repeatedly throughout the track; and then there are tracks that sit in between like 'The Merciless Tide' which is slow but shred filled and garnished with superb soaring extended vocal growling.

This album goes way beyond anything Vallenfyre have done to date. Throughout the dark haunting lead work and shred breakouts are offset superbly against the dirty distorted riffing and powerful rasping vocal delivery that has an unnerving clarity to the content delivery, tied together with Waltteri's previously mentioned pummelling drum work.

Its Death Metal drenched with enough Doom to keep the most morose Metalhead happy and manic tracks that will fire up the pit when delivered live.
