Review Of The Year

BEST METAL MEMORY: The Earache Christmas party in Islington tonight (9th December). I'll let you know whether it was or not in the morning...

GIG: Manowar's triumphant return to England on 27th March at Birmingham's O2 Academy.

This was not just a gig, this was an occasion of monstrously Metal proportions. The crowd were ecstatic, the band were utterly brilliant and the sound was absolutely blistering. Not just my 'Best Gig Of 2011, but possibly 'Best Gig Of All Time'. Hail And Kill!

Article continues below...

ALBUM: My best album of 2011 is shared. I can't choose between Suidakra 'Book Of Dowth' and Symfonia 'In Paradisium', so they both win.

There're a lot of contenders this year and it was a tough job to get the list down. 2011 was a rich year for Heavy Metal.

Special mention to the following great albums first: Trivium 'In Waves', Iced Earth 'Dystopia', Edguy 'Age Of The Joker', Saxon 'Call To Arms', White Wizzard 'Flying Tigers'.
