JONATHAN CHURCHILL: DEFENDING OUR ISLAND: AN EVENING WITH ALICE COOPER AND JOHNNY DEPP

alice cooper

Alice Cooper was joined by Johnny Depp in London’s famous 100 Club tonight. Playing a special club show, Alice raced through a phenomenal – and unique – set list of greatest hits and covers from bands which inspired the original Alice Cooper.

Starting with ‘Train Kept A Rollin”, the 60s rock ‘n’ roll vibe influenced the show, the new band distinctly more classic rock than Metal and sounding fantastic.

‘Brown Sugar’ soon followed as Alice discussed his influences with the ecstatic crowd! Mixing it up with classics such as ‘Under My Wheels’, ‘No More Mr Nice Guy’ and ‘Cold Ethyl’, we were also treated to ‘Back In The USSR’, ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘We Gotta Get Out Of This Place’ and ‘Fire’.

The tiny 100 Club stage was packed with three lead guitars including classic 70s Alice collaborator Steve Hunter, but there was still room for a special guest! Sending the audience into a fever, Johnny Depp joined in with his guitar for ‘I’m Eighteen’ and ‘School’s Out’. But the most notable guest appearance of the night was the snake – which, as Alice joked – seems a lot more scary when he’s out of character.

And that’s just what he was tonight. Evil Alice with the blood and theatre left behind. What we saw was an exclusive insight into the singer and artist himself that encompasses Alice Cooper. Plus, the exclusive new track from ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’, ‘I’ll Bite Your Face Off’.

Hella Rock Festival

For die-hard Alice fans, tonight was just unbelievable. This will be one collectable bootleg. But who needs the CD when I was there, three feet away from the snake and rocking like it was the 1960s. Awesome.
