TONY MOTTRAM'S SHOT OF THE MONTH
BUMPER CHRISTMAS PICTURE SPECIAL

tony mottram

Apologies to everyone who has been waiting for images - it's been a strangely busy few months since my last article.

Still working on the digitisation of my archives, going well but interesting requests for Punk, Pop, Indie, Reggae and Two Tone images.

After the FM images, Paul Anthony of Planet Rock requested copies of the pictures featuring him. Wait a while as I keep finding him in party pix so maybe a Paul feature some time.

Well when I met current FM keyboard player Jem Davis for the first time he was in Tobruk and we ventured down Hamburg's infamous Reeperbahn for a Sounds magazine feature ending up in a bar with various Uriah Heep members. I'm sure the story doesn't end there...

Recently I visited Hamburg regards an Oi book in production with my Sounds days photos. I met a guy there who is producing a fantastic Clothing Label Hawkins & Joseph, if ya like footy please check them out. That has led me to hooking up with the Two Tone Village & Museum in Coventry on a few projects. What a small world and music makes my world go round.

So while in the T files I had to take a look back in my Trower images, one of my favourite guitarists and to have Robin come to my London studio was just one of those great days meeting a hero face to face; call that working, eh?

In the T file was a shoot for Music for Nations LP, 'Wreckage' by the Tygers of Pan Tang and the Polaroid test images fell out, which was good to see and I remember the shots were used the wrong way round on the sleeve for my liking. I think the studio shots should have gone on the back and the location images should have been the front cover!

During my trawl though the Pop images I refound a shoot for No1 Magazine called Blind Date, where they hooked Dee Snider up with Mari Wilson who ended up getting on very well, as you can see. Great days!

As some might remember my Meatloaf "stuff the turkey" Christmas card I did need to revisit the session and found some shots from a Sounds shoot in Bristol I hadn't seen for years - nice big gun Meat! and is that Press Officer Vesa Manos in the shoot team pic?

As this year has involved a lot of work with Toby Jepson and projects he has been working on, here are some thank you images and look and listen out for the Treason Kings who I shot down at Vale studios while Toby was in the Production Chair.

Have a Grand Christ Mad what ever you get up to, and if anyone wants to request a look at any of my images you've not seen drop us a mail here at MetalTalk and we will see what we can do! Cheers!!
