The second night of their European tour, 20,000 fans are lucky to catch Maiden doing an indoor show. The British band return to their Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son stage show from 1988 with a few songs from '92 to bolster the set a little.

On the request of bassist Steve Harris , Voodoo Six have the daunting task of opening and do a sturdy job flowing with a growing confidence , Falling Knives and Sink Or Swim are good starting points for a band who have traditional rock roots with a dash of the blues and grunge hidden within.

A stage with enough icebergs to sink the Titanic, the acoustic intro to 'Moonchild' is almost drowned out by the cheering worshipping crowd as Maiden make their entrance. Murray, Smith and Gers take their place in line as they soar with their triple axe attack. Harris with galloping riffs holds his bass firmly pointing it towards those with awestruck open mouths. Nicko McBrain is bunkered in behind his drum kit hitting everything within his reach. Above them all is an athletic Bruce Dickinson who gives the order when to scream who runs and leaps around the stage as if he is under crossfire, although here in Lisbon, he has no enemies.

A mouth watering set list sees a flag waving 'Trooper', a devilish 'Number Of The Beast' and a giant Eddie stalking the stage as Colonel Custer for 'Run To The Hills'. The band really prove their prowess with the guitar duelling epics 'Phantom Of The Opera' and the prog delight of 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' which are breathtakingly brilliant. Tonight they had the fire, they had the force. Full of ammunition, there was no misfire. Maiden hit every target.
