Best Band - The Devin Townsend Project (Ca)

Could it be anybody else? What a great year for the man and his band from tours, festival slots, albums and of course the fantastic 'Retinal Circus'. DTP could actually be my choice for nearly all our categories here!

Best Album - The Agonist 'Prisoners' (Ca)

Love the band and this album. It's a great step for the band who nailed the difficult second album maturely bloomed in a positive direction. Click here for the review.

Best EP - TesseracT 'Perspective' (UK)

A great break form the norm with an acoutic release, yet encompassing that definitive groove and ambiance.

Best Gig - Mastodon, 17th January, Voxhall Aarhus (Dk)

A great start to the year with the mighty 'Don and support from Red Fang in a great intimate venue with balcony. Two hours of bellowing riff-age from classic to new spanning all releases with typical well known tracks and some great "b-side" choices.

Best Festival - Copenhell (Copenhagen, Dk)

Download still remains my favorite festival and Bloodstock I'm sure still has the great atmosphere but my choice has gotta be Live Nation's growing pearl. With the intimacy of Bloodstock enjoying giant names, flames, beer, beer and more beer! www.copenhell.dk

Best Newcomer - Monuments (UK)

Not strictly new, but this year has seen the bands first studio release and a slot on the megolithic Euroblast tour. Hard working guys with superstars in the making!

Most Annoying Moment - Marilyn Manson

As closing Headliner at Copenhell he made us wait 20 minutes in the sudden monsoon only to forget half the words and vaguely sing/speak the words he did know to a guitar stack. A shit new album too.

Look forward to...

Ziltoid's sequel, TesseracT's second album, festival season!
