Orgy have been working on new music for the past two years and 'Wide Awake And Dead' is their first single for 2014.
Having regrouped and working away on their new material, can this be a gracious step forward to bringing the glory that was once bestowed on Orgy or will it be a step in the sidewards direction.
In my view 'Wide Awake And Dead' is a progressive step in the wrong direction I'm afraid, with a more poppy vibe. 'Wide Awake And Dead' as a title does seem very apt for the style presented here I'm afraid.

A keyboard intro with the loud bass emphasis should have the indication that this would be a great Orgy single but as Jay's vocal are introduced it seems that a more poppy vibe is here for the new release. It's not a catchy guitar driven experience as have been past glories, just way too aired on the side of caution splattered with commercialism.
If you are a die hard fan then you will like his despite it's direction change but if you have always wondered what Orgy stood for please check out the past releases for gratification.
Overall a bit of a disappointment after after waiting a long period of time for the band to come back.
