WhiskeyDick are a duo from Fort Worth, Texas who have a relaxed approach to their live performances. Sitting down and picking up acoustic as opposed to electric guitars, they've been enchanting audiences throughout the US with their unique brand of Country Metal as they call it.

Their sound comes from a mix of their Country Music roots merged with elements from their Metal background. These self styled "Bastard Sons of Texas" have recently released a new single, 'Drunk As Hell', which serves as an excellent taster of what this unconventional duo are capable of.

The songs itself is the title track from their third album, available now, and at just over just under five minutes long the best way to describe it is that it's a simple arrangement of voice and guitar. Front man Fritz has a deep southern drawl which adds texture to the song though his voice remains soulful at all times, only gaining a slight aggression during the simple chorus.

Accompanying him is some simple acoustic guitar provided by Reverend Johnson. This gives the song an honest quality and the steady rhythm from both guitars created serves as a good base for the song. Midway through there is the addition of an electric guitar solo from Fritz, which is exceedingly well performed but it never attempts to overpower the sound of the acoustic guitar from Johnson, which maintains the rhythm at the back.

If you're looking for something different to listen to, then you don't need to look any further than WhiskeyDick, so as the song says, "pour me a double" and let the band play one more, and it's certainly a band I'm looking forward to catching live on a rare handful of dates in the UK later this month.
