Bournemouth's rapidly rising young quintet Voodoo Vegas have been making a name for themselves over the past few years.

On the live front, they've shared stages with some of the biggest names in rock n' roll including ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, Y&T during their European tour as well as supporting the mighty Status Quo in Holland. The band have also made appearances on the European festival circuit stopping by at Spain's Callea Rock Festival, the Tribal Festival in France and a show in front of 80,000 people at Germany's Rhineland Palatinate Parade.

The band's last studio effort was their excellent debut album, 'The Rise Of Jimmy Silver', back in 2013 and when they've not been hard at work touring, the band have been working out ideas for new material. Now, 'Hypnotise' may not be a full album, and it would have been easy for the band to wait until they had another couple of songs recorded and delayed this release so they could label it as a full album - but they're not like that.

The band want to give the very best they have to offer now, and that's exactly what this EP is - four full on tracks that will please every fan of the band and, I'm sure, encourage a few new fans to jump onboard the Voodoo Vegas bandwagon.

Produced by produced by Will Maya (The Answer and Breed 77) and recorded at Los Rosales Residential Studio in Madrid, this EP brings out the very best of the band in a short but thoroughly enjoyable slice of rock. Kicking things off with the title track, drummer Jonno Smyth counts in front man Lawrence Case who comes through loud and clear!

The guitars don't take long to chime in and the song's off and running. It's stop-start pace gives plenty of scope for Case to show his vocal abilities and the guitar hooks memorable enough that it's still in your head long after the track has finished.

'Tied Up' is a full on rocker with the drums of Smyth setting down a great pace. The twin guitars of Merylina Hamilton and Jon Dawson really make this song though, as they really drive the song. Some effects added to Case's voice gives his performance a slightly different feel, but the boisterous chorus is great fun to listen to and I'm sure will be equally fun during a live gig. The shared guitar solo from Hamilton and Dawson really takes some beating here and it's a joy to hear two such in tune players.

Of course bass player Ash Moulton isn't forgotten as he kicks off 'Round and Round' with his solid and dependable playing. It's another fast paced number with Smyth picking up the beat. Case puts in another solid performances even though his voice seems to be a little overstretched at times, but it remains mercifully intact at all times. Another surefire winner for the band and you get the feeling that you know where the song's going just when the pace slows and the talkbox guitar from Dawson comes out for an instrumental interlude with Case joining in showing off his harmonica skills. Who else can take a fast paced rocker and turn it on a knife edge into a great bluesy sound number and then back again?

Closing off with 'Killing Joke' the band don't hold back with the slowest paced and by far the heaviest number of the set. It shows that there's more sides to the band than you'd think and they seem to have every angle covered from fast to slow and from bluesy rock to solid heavy numbers.

The band certainly have proved they've lots left to deliver so let's hope their second full length album isn't too far off in their plans as I'm looking forward to seeing what else they have to entertain us all with.
