Saturday: 6.00am

After Twisted Sister had played their final notes in the UK last night (full review on the site soon), Diamond Head wrapped up the night with a seriously monstrous performance on the Sophie Lancaster Stage.

As one of the elder statesmen of Heavy Metal, Brian Tatler has a rich history and a rich back catalogue to choose from and the latest incarnation of Diamond Head delivered lightning to Bloodstock last night with an impressive setlist full of power and steel. Hopefully this line-up will remain as after nearly forty years, Diamond Head could still be the next big thing.

We have a Bloodstock casualty and MetalTalk are a man down but we gained two new team members on Friday so it's two christenings and a funeral today and a shedload of Heavy Metal including the "must see" band of the day Gojira, personal favourites Vallenfyre, Greek melodic deathsters Rotting Christ, Yorkshire boys Paradise Lost and headliner Mastodon on the Main Stage.

Highlights on the Sophie Stage are Heretic Order who kick off the day at 11.00am (our Head Of Live Reviews didn't know there were two eleven o'clocks in a day until he saw the Bloodstock stage times), The Raven Age who have just returned from playing 72 of the worlds biggest venues with Iron Maiden, Bull Riff Stampede for a touch of early evening brutality and the mighty Acid Reign who haven't played a UK festival since the time when people knew where Paradise was.

That's a lot of Heavy Metal for one day. But there's no such thing as too much. We asked a friend of ours in London why, when he is watching bands, does he always stand there with his mouth open? "So I can get more music in my head" was his reply.

Keep checking this page regularly as we will be updating it often with all the very latest from Saturday at Bloodstock 2016.

Saturday: 10.00pm

Serpent's Lair bar manager Rick Graham was up and about before opening time this morning and he told us over a liquid breakfast: "We started doing this bar six years ago and we now do the whole festival. We've got 70 real ales on over the course of the weekend, from local brews to Australian beers and its all going from strength to strength."

Rick pointed out that it was tough sometimes being around all that fine produce. Well surely someone has to test the merchandise before offering it to the public? Any volunteers? No? OK, that will be us then. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it... back in a couple of hours...

Saturday: 12.30pm

Cambion opened up the Main Stage this morning with a show of brutality that really blew away the cobwebs from Friday night as they blitzed the early risers with a show of sheer strength.

Meanwhile on the Sophie Stage The Heretic Order showed that they are ones to watch out for as they really hooked a disappointingly small audience. This band deserve a larger profile and have more then enough stage presence to be on the Main Stage.

Lord Ragnar Wagner entered the stage in his usual hooded outfit which is gradually removed during the set and his female compatriots with their goblets of blood were all present and correct too.

When The Heretic Order play, you can feel the evil rising in the room.

Vallenfyre have realy got the crowd going on the Main Stage with a powerfully dark display while currently Ten Ton Slug are leaving a trail of destruction in their wake on the Newblood Stage.

The sun is shining, the beers are flowing and the Metal is Heavy and another great day at Bloodtock is in full swing. We're going to have a wander over to the Sophie Stage to see The Raven Age. Look out for another update in a couple of hours which will include photos of the bands who have played so far today.

Beyond The Black, 8.00pm Friday, Sophie Stage

Saturday: 2.00pm

The Raven Age are fresh from The Book Of Souls World Tour where they supported Iron Maiden across six continents and they've become as tight as a Bobby Moore-led defence after 72 gigs over six months.

The Sophie Stage was a lot fuller than it was earlier and The Raven Age deservedly went down well. A highly enjoyable set from a cool band with good songs.

Evil E from The Heretic Order told us after their performance earlier: "It was a buzz out there; even though it was early we were warmed up and really enjoyed it. It's a pleasure to be here."

Rotted Skull added: "The first time we played, two years ago, was on the Jaeger Stage and now we've opened the Sophie Stage so maybe, hopefully, we'll be on the Main Stage next time."

The Heretic Order play The Lounge, Archway, London on 28th September as part of a seven date UK tour

Here's some of the photos we promised you earlier.

Saturday: 6.15pm

Rotting Christ just smashed Bloodstock's Main Stage with a blitzing set that had the masses enthralled.

Lead guitarist George Emmanuel spoke to our Greek Interpreter Georgia Prorok and told us: "We loved this gig. We were a bit tired because we played in Belgium yesterday and missed sleep but we're looking forward to relaxing now and seeing a few of the other bands on the bill, especially Gojira."

Frontman Sakis Toils added: "We really enjoyed the gig but we haven't slept for a couple of nights. It's been a blast and we're back home to Greece on Monday but now, we're going to miss more sleep..."

Attica Rage are playing at 8.15 tomorrow, in-between Anthrax and Slayer and bassist Matt Ward was looking serious as he tried hard to avoid rock n' roll temptation in a bid to be as clear headed as possible for his big day tomorrow. So we bought him a beer to cheer himself up with.

As we were talking to Rotting Christ, Fear Factory took to the Main Stage and are currently putting on a devastating performance with 1994s 'Demanufacture' album in full. It really is rocking out there and FF are causing a stir.

Back in a bit with more Metal merriment.
