I WANT TO SHARE LEMMY’S LETTER WITH YOU AND I KNOW HE WOULD APPROVE…
Pippa Lang
In 1994, whilst working at Metal Hammer, I wrote in my column about the dangers of heroin and the horrible consequences of taking the most heinous drug in the world – that is, the junkie’s devolution into an untrustworthy social pariah as “smack” dominates his or her life over and above anything or anyone else.
After publication, I received a fax from Lemmy in LA, responding to my “diatribe”. I’ve just found this after many years and it nearly brought me to tears. I want to share Lemmy’s letter with you, and I know he would approve.
It is moving, emotional and intensely personal but, most of all, it conveys Lemmy’s loathing of the dealers of death who could not care less about the tragic consequences of selling their poisonous wares.
Take heed, and take care.
