MICHAEL MONROE / ‘LEMMY WAS REALLY UPSET WHEN RAZZLE DIED’

Michael Monroe recently played an exhilarating set full of high energy rock n’ roll at the Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena in London.

After his set we managed to pin down the hyperactive frontman for a lengthy chat in the bustling Virgin Cocktail Lounge to talk about his most recent release, his tenth solo studio album ‘Blackout States’ which features song titles set in London such as ‘Old Kings Road’ and ‘Dead Hearts On Denmark Street’, Tin Pan Alley, the hub of the music scene from the 60s onwards where many famous musicians bought their instruments and is now under threat from redevelopment in the area due to the controversial Crossrail project.

Michael also talks about his time living in London when Hanoi Rocks first exploded on to the scene in the early 80s.

Among many other subjects covered Michael also speaks fondly of his friendship with Lemmy and tells how the Motörhead frontman was really upset when Razzle died.

The extrovert Finnish vocalist also talks about his friendship with Guns ‘N Roses vocalist Axl Rose who he admits he hasn’t seen in many years, his recent collaboration with symphonic rock singer Tarja Turunen where he guests on her recent EP ‘The Beautiful Void’ on the track he co-wrote with Tarja, ‘Your Heaven And Your Hell’.
