GHOST BEWITCH BLOODSTOCK WITH HAUNTING PERFORMANCE
Bloodstock Open Air 2017, Saturday
13th August 2017 Pictures: John Inglis and Will Tudor
German thrash originators Kreator gave headliners Ghost a proper run for their money on the main stage on Saturday at Bloodstock but the Swedish spookmeisters proved more than worthy headliners.
You can see what happened when Kreator played right here.
Eccentric ecclesiastical headliners Ghost took to the stage after the published time, preparing the waiting congregation with calming choral music before beginning the service with the uptempo 'Square Hammer', which showcased the striking visuals.
It's all about the show with Ghost, and there was plenty of interplay between Nameless Ghoul and Nameless Ghoul, while the Nameless Ghouls on the rhythm section provided a solid back up to Papa Emeritus II.
There was more tropes than you could shake an incense dispenser over, including a troupe of nuns ministering communion to the crowd during 'Body And Blood', yet as the cliches are an integral part of the set they are greeted with affection - this show just works, it's a great bit of entertainment.
It's the final day of Bloodstock 2017 today and the action is in full swing. Stay tuned for much more from Catton Hall during the day.
