TONY MOTTRAM’S SHOT OF THE MONTH: GOOD TIMES – SAD TIMES

Sad times as we lose more musicians that I had the pleasure of working with and photographing and seeing and hearing.

Vixen were a band who I really liked and were really nice people to work with. I had the pleasure of working with Jan Kuehnemund and the girls in my studio in London and this studio shoot is in St Louis, USA if memory serves correct and working live on tour with The Scorpions and their own Vixen tours across Europe and USA.

EMI UK used live shots of mine as promo postcards with a special vinyl release.

It was real shock to hear of Jan Kuehnemund’s passing.

Not to say Lou Reed’s death was expected, it was another great loss and even if you didn’t get the hook up ‘Lulu’ record with Metallica he was always a creative musician in his own world pushing boundries and the norm.

The good times at the moment have been seeing Toseland live and on tour at the moment and hearing an interesting young band, The Reaper, support in Milton Kynes and hearing the recording of The Brew’s next release with Toby Jepson in the production chair.

Also bumping into Carl Sentance from Persian Risk with his other project Towers Of Stone featuring a friend I had not seen or jammed with for 13 years on guitar, Howie Jarrett! Doh, how I had forgotten what a voice Carl had and still has! Great to hook up again after all these years and we are all hanging in there! ROCK ON!
