tony martin

Former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin will be playing a one off UK performance at The Asylum Birmingham on July 27th. This will only be Tony's and and only UK show this year. Support will come from local hero Blaze Bailey.

Its been a long time and a long struggle to keep the voice and songs of Tony Martin in the music arena, but now for the first time in his home town as a solo artist, Tony Martin is performing many of the songs he was responsible for creating. Songs of course from the Sabbath era of his career, through 'Phenomena', and solo albums 'Back Where I Belong' and 'Scream' to the Rondinelli album and laterly 'The Cage' which was released earlier this year.

Tony's band is a collection of his closest and trusted friends – Geoff Nicholls on keyboards, Tony's colleague from Black Sabbath. Always able to create a melodic atmosphere for Tony's writing, sometimes being the KEY to making the song work! Geoff has been in Tony's band for many years and appeared on his 'Scream' album as co-writer.

Danny Needham, currently working with Venom, rejoins Tony for this unique and landmark concert. Danny is the anchor and guardian of the shows pace and tempo. Highly regarded as a player, Danny is a hard act to follow.

Magnus Rosen is a new addition to Tony's band. With great stage presence and ability as a bass player, Magnus has gained huge respect for his honesty and is highly regarded by Tony as one of the true gentlemen of the rock world. He is known mostly for his work with Hammerfall.

The remaining member, Dario Mollo is a long time friend and collaborator on the 'Cage' project. Dario's guitar playing is exceptional. He is naturally left handed but plays a right handed guitar. Not only a guitar player though, he runs his own studio in Italy and is a very attentive producer.

This collection of friends and consummate artists promises to provide a unique and emotional trip through the songs of Tony Martin's career.

This is a one time chance to see the show. Don't miss it!

Have a listen to the full 'Headless Cross' album. This is probably Black Sabbath's most under-rated album of all time...

Wacken Winter Nights 2018 takes place between February 23rd and 25th 2018 and the great news is that you can now experience a full-on, top class German Metal Festival easily and affordably.

It only takes an hour to fly to Hamburg from London and we've had longer journeys than that within the capital and they were certainly more expensive than the £33 air ticket that just appeared in our 'flights to Wacken Winter Nights' search.

Wacken Winter Nights is organised by the same team who are responsible for the world's greatest Metal festival, Wacken-Open-Air and the 2018 bill includes Skyclad, Orphaned Land, Elvenking, Finntroll, Grave Digger, Aeverium, Comes Vagantes, Coppelius, Corvus Corax, Die Pressgëng, Elvellon, Heimataerde, Hell-O-Matic, Ignis Fatuu, Ingrimm, Irdorath, Johnny Deathshadow, Krayenzeit, Letzte Instanz, Mr Hurley und die Pulveraffen, Pampatut, Pat Razket, Schandmaul, Sündenrausch, The Aberlour's, The Moon And The Nightspirit, Torfrock, Visions Of Atlantis, Vroudenspil, Wind Rose and more.

Besides this rich billing of superb Metal bands, there is so much more to see in the festival area including the medieval market and also the walking acts and jugglers you will meet at the theme worlds, including Robert Blake, three-time World Cup winner of street magic.

Wacken Winter Nights is something not to be missed and you can check out the amazing ticket and accommodation prices right here.

We just priced up the whole four day trip with hotels, flights, shuttles and festival tickets for less than £300 and we don't think you will get a better value festival than that, anywhere.

MetalTalk recently sat down with Wacken founder and owner Thomas Jensen and that interview will be online next week and it's a fascinating insight into how Wacken originated from nothing to become the world's premiere Heavy Metal event.
