FORMER ICED EARTH MEMBERS MATT BARLOW AND FREDDIE VIDALES REVEAL NAME OF NEW BAND
2nd September 2012

"Now that the wheel's in motion. Unstoppable force, undaunted by your pleas..."

Former Iced Earth frontman Matt Barlow revealed in July that he had formed with former Iced Earth bass player Freddie Vidales and former Nevermore drummer Van Williams and Matt has now revealed the name of the band as Ashes Of Ares.

Freddie left Iced Earth earlier this year after the band dramatically increased their touring schedule, ironically because Matt had left the band and new singer Stu Block was free to permanently tour.

Matt had left Iced Earth in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and when asked to return to the fold by Jon Schaffer, he rejoined on the condition that he could keep his job as a US Law Enforcement Officer, thus restricting Iced Earth's availablilty to tour.

Matt formally retired from Iced Earth in March 2011 (read Matt's leaving statement here) and the subsequent recruitment of new singer Stu Block allowed Iced Earth to proceed with unlimited touring.

Freddie left in March for reasons unknown but under good terms to be replaced by Fury UK's Luke Appleton.

Now Matt and Freddie are reunited and you can view the short video teaser below, along with this message from Matt regarding the future of this exciting new project.

"Greetings all! Just wanted to give you guys a little insight into what's been going on lately. Well, though we are still in the early stages of progress, we are really excited about what we are hearing thus far. We hope that you have patience with´╗┐ us as we continue with this creative process and search for a record label that will help us bring our music to you all in the best way. Thanks for all your support....more to come! BARLOW"
