The second season of professional baseball in Taiwan kicked off on July 5th 2013, with Chthonic throwing the ceremonial first pitch thanks to a personal invitation from local team, Brother Elephant.
The crowd responded with screams and cheers as Chthonic, something of a national treasure in their home country, walked on to the field wearing baseball uniforms specially designed for the occasion.
To warm up the excitable crowd, Chthonic performed a very special version of the Queen classic, 'We Are The Champions'.

Chthonic band leader and bassist Doris reveals: "At first, we wanted to do 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game', but all the variations that we tried just sounded like children's songs, so we decided to work on 'We Are The Champions' instead."
Guitarist Jesse adds: "It took us a week to rearrange the song, and the end product and the feedback from the audience were beyond our expectations. Maybe we should release it as a single?!"
When asked who pitched the best, keyboard player CJ pointed to Doris: "Even baseball star and national team player, Peng Cheng-min, said that Doris pitched better than any of the other guests of honour!"
"I guess I can say that I've played in the professional league now I've thrown the first pitch," laughs frontman Freddy, a loyal baseball fan who once served as administrator for Brother Elephant's fan page. "This is something I wouldn't even have imagined in my dreams!"
Chthonic's new studio album, 'Bu-Tik', is available now via Spinefarm, and the video for 'Supreme Pain For The Tyrant' can be viewed here:
A full UK tour is currently being planned for autumn 2013.
