It's been nearly four years since Evanescence finished touring in support of their 'The Open Door' album, but now they are officially back with a roaring new single 'What You Want'.

'What You Want' is being serviced to radio on August 22nd, with a release date of October 3rd 2011. Recorded in Nashville's Blackbird Studios, and produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Deftones), frontwoman Amy Lee describes the song as being "really different" from anything in the band's back catalogue.

'What You Want' is most definitely a departure, the guitars buzz like a hornet's nest, the drums are pounding and primal, and the strings (arranged by Beck's father, David Campbell) swell and stab.

Throw in a positively massive chorus and Lee's beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, and poignant piano, and you've got a song that's powerful enough to shake the world to its very foundation.

'What You Want' deals with heady concepts, a trait that's readily apparent throughout Evanescence's new self titled album.

"It's about freedom - that's definitely a constant theme on the record", Lee says. "And the chorus - 'remember who you really are' - that's exactly everything you could assume it means."

Evanescence have also been focused on finishing the track listing for their album, due October 10th and finalising the routing for their world tour. The band announced UK dates last week which include two nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Nov 4th and 5th.

Here's a fabulous Aerosmith pictorial document as seen through the lens of famed British photographer Tony Mottram. Tony photographed the band over many years for various magazines and now has a monthly column here on MetalTalk.

As was often the case, only one photo ever got published and in the fast moving world of weekly magazines sometimes entire sessions would be done and left undeveloped.

Tony started shooting Aerosmith from towards the end of the period with Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay and onwards through the return of original members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford that resulted in the albums 'Done With Mirrors', 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump'.

As well as shooting the band several times in England, this collection includes images from a session at the band's rehearsal room in Boston. Littered throughout is a mixture of live and off stage photos including a selection of photos taken at London's famous Marquee club when they were joined on stage by Jimmy Page.

This limited edition hardback book, presented in a flight case and printed on silk paper, is an opportunity to own a unique selection of photos, most of which have never seen the light of day before.

This unique item is presented in an aluminium flight case and will be published in late November. Earlybird subscribers who order by 31st October will have their name printed within a dedicated page in the book.
