the union

To coincide with a full UK tour with The Answer, The Union return with double a sided single on 12th March 2012. The single will include the tracks 'Make Up Your Mind' (2012 revised radio version), 'Obsession' (radio edit) and live tracks 'Cut The Line' and 'Obsession'. The singles are taken from The Union's acclaimed second album 'Siren's Song'.

Formed by guitarist Luke Morley and ex Winterville vocalist/guitarist Peter Shoulder, The Union produce a very modern take on classic styles. Merging modern and classic rock, blues and country, the bands impeccable songwriting is pulled together by the uniquely powerful and emotive vocals of Peter Shoulder - one of only three British artists (the other two being Eric Clapton and Peter Green) to win a W.C. Handy Blues Foundation award, presented in Memphis in 2006 for co-writing the American Blues Song of the year 2006.

'Siren's Song' picks up where 'The Union' left off. From the gospel hints of opening track 'Siren's Song' to the driving blues riffs of 'The Remedy', from jazz piano of ballad 'If I Could Make You Mine' to the truly infectious melodies of the rolling 'Obsession', 'Siren's Song' features impeccable songwriting and stunning musicianship that flies the flag for British rock.

The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios, Monmouth, Wales, the oldest residential studios in the world (Queen, Oasis), and was produced by Luke Morley and Peter Shoulder and mixed by Nick Brine (currently producing The Darkness' comeback album).

Here's a fabulous Aerosmith pictorial document as seen through the lens of famed British photographer Tony Mottram. Tony photographed the band over many years for various magazines and now has a monthly column here on MetalTalk.

As was often the case, only one photo ever got published and in the fast moving world of weekly magazines sometimes entire sessions would be done and left undeveloped.

Tony started shooting Aerosmith from towards the end of the period with Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay and onwards through the return of original members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford that resulted in the albums 'Done With Mirrors', 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump'.

As well as shooting the band several times in England, this collection includes images from a session at the band's rehearsal room in Boston. Littered throughout is a mixture of live and off stage photos including a selection of photos taken at London's famous Marquee club when they were joined on stage by Jimmy Page.

This limited edition hardback book, presented in a flight case and printed on silk paper, is an opportunity to own a unique selection of photos, most of which have never seen the light of day before.

This unique item is presented in an aluminium flight case and will be published in late November. Earlybird subscribers who order by 31st October will have their name printed within a dedicated page in the book.
