Sharing the stage, as Beth, is one of the most in demand talents in modern musical theatre - Kerry Ellis. Having received huge acclaim for her roles in West End hits 'Wicked' and 'We Will Rock You', Kerry is described as the new 'First Lady of the West End'.

And last week, she won a What's On Stage Award for Best Solo performance for her Anthems project and has also recently released her debut album with Queen legend, Brian May.

They will be joining one of the world's finest actors, Liam Neeson, as The Journalist, taking up the baton previously occupied by the late Richard Burton. Liam's 3D holograhic performance will be seen in three separate ways, including as the world's first full body hologram, interacting with live performers on stage.

The remaining Guest Artistes will be revealed in the coming months.

One of the most successful stage shows of recent times, Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of 'The War of The Worlds - Alive on Stage!' returns to UK and European Arenas for the fifth time since 2006. It is a watershed year for the production – this is The New Generation, with a new of cast, new interpretation of the score and a ground-breaking new production.

Kerry Ellis says: "The moment I got the call from Jeff Wayne I started to get excited about the prospect of joining the cast of 'The War of The Worlds'. Growing up I remember listening to the iconic sound track on cassette (yes cassette!) and loving the musical story. Now I get the chance to play Beth and be part of the newly adapted show which is a dream."

Composer/Producer, Jeff Wayne, who will again conduct the production, says: "Over the years, I've been so fortunate to have had the participation of some truly great artists. For me, the real bonus is that I've always been a true fan of those who I've approached and when they've come on board, to me it's not been work, just great fun.

"Already, Ricky Wilson and Kerry Ellis, the first two guest artists for our New Generation tour fall into that category. Ricky because of his command on stage with the wonderful Kaiser Chiefs, and Kerry who I saw in the original production of 'Wicked' in London's West End, whose voice and charismatic performance drew the audience to her like a magnet. I welcome them both to 'The War of the Worlds'."

RICKY WILSON

Ricky Wilson is best known as frontman of indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who sold over three million copies of their debut album 'Employment' in 2005. Since then, the band have released three subsequent albums and toured the world.

KERRY ELLIS

Kerry Ellis has fast become recognized as the First Lady of West End musicals, from her starring roles in London and on Broadway, and has achieved chart topping success as a recording artist signed to Universal Decca with her debut album 'Anthems'.

Kerry originated the role of Meat, in Queen's 'We Will Rock You' after being spotted by Brian May who saw her as Eliza Dolittle at the National Theatre. She was the first British Elphaba in the West End smash, 'Wicked', for which Kerry won the 2008 Whatsonstage.com Award for 'Best Takeover in a Role'. She then immediately transferred to Broadway and was the first British Elphaba at the Gershwin Theater for six months, where she won the Broadway.com Audience Award for 'Favourite Female Breakthrough Performance'. Her many other leading role credits include Nancy in Oliver! at the London Palladium, Ellen in 'Miss Saigon' and Fantine in 'Les Miserables'.

NEW GENERATION FACTS

On the original 1978 double album and from 2006 when the arena tours began, Richard Burton's audio and technological visual performances contained 74 sequences. Liam Neeson's Journalist contains 90. Richard's performance was seen in one way. Liam will be seen in three:

• As an 11-foot high holographic 'head and shoulders' as The Journalist recounts in 1904 his story of survival from the Martian invasion of Victorian England some six years earlier

• Within CGI sequences seen on a 100-foot wide 'Animation Wall'

• Perhaps the most remarkable element, a world first in live entertainment, will see Liam Neeson appearing full body on stage interacting holographically with the show's live performers. A triumph of technology and a remarkable performance by Liam

Jeff Wayne will again conduct the Black Smoke Band and ULLAdubULLA Strings with the remaining musical Guest Artistes to be announced for both the new album and tour.

The new live production will also contain exciting new ingredients, as well as some of the most iconic elements returning, including:

• A 3-tonne, 35-foot tall Martian Fighting Machine firing real flame Heat Rays at the audience and scanning them with its bug-like eyes, as it lands on centre stage

• Special effects and illusions including a world first 'levitation' and the Martian Fighting Machine's 'incineration' of a cast member

• Leaf drops over the audience and surround sound that engulfs them, contributing to the all-encompassing experience that is The War of The Worlds

Jeff Wayne's double album was originally released by CBS records in 1978. It has enjoyed huge success and critical acclaim across the globe with over 15 million records sold and spending over 330 weeks in the UK Album Charts (to date) plus achieving two International hit singles – 'Forever Autumn' and 'The Eve of The War'.

'The War of The Worlds' has also won two prestigious UK Ivor Novello Awards, the US Best Recording in Science Fiction and Fantasy (the judges included Alfred Hitchcock, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg), as well as winning for Jeff, Classic Rock's 'Showman of The Year' Award.
