AN EVENING WITH THE STEVE MILLER BAND EUROPEAN TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR AUTUMN 2012
5th March 2012

A quick two years after his first European tour in more than a quarter-century, Steve Miller is coming back. An eleven-city, eight-country tour by the Steve Miller Band will start October 20 at London's historic Roundhouse and finish on November 4 in Vienna, Austria.

Two years ago, on his first tour of Europe since 1982, Miller was greeted in 2010 by capacity crowds and widespread acclaim, a triumphant, seven-city swing culminating in a sold out show at London's Royal Albert Hall before rock royalty such as Jimmy Page and David Gilmour, filmed and recorded for DVD.

"A masterclass," said The Independent. "By the time the band finished and they took a bow the scenes in the stalls and in the boxes were more like complete abandon – nearly two hours of fine music and excellent songs had reminded the audience just how good music can be," said Music News. "Buy the DVD," said Record Collector Magazine.

The first announcement of 2012 touring plans by the Steve Miller Band follows three of the busiest, most productive years of his long career, an artist at the peak of his powers, in demand around the world, whether as the headliner chosen to inaugurate the new $2.5 million TV home of 'Austin City Limits' or collaborating with country superstar Kenny Chesney on the Country Music Television special, 'Crossroads'.

He released not one, but two new albums – the number one blues album, 'Bingo', and its successor, 'Let Your Hair Down' – the first new Steve Miller Band records in eighteen years ("cause for celebration," said the Huffington Post). The two albums featured artwork by noted Pink Floyd artist Storm Thorgerson and the final recordings of longtime Steve Miller Band member Norton Buffalo, Miller's partner in harmony for thirty-three years, who died from cancer in October 2009.

His US tour last year began with a series of small theaters through the East and South with Gregg Allman as his supporting act. Among the highlights of the 60-city tour were shows at the Allman Brothers' Wanee Festival, playing for 38,000 fans at Pittsburg's PNC Park or a free Fourth of July concert for 150,000 under the St. Louis Gateway. At the same time, Miller found time to perform with jazz guitarist Howard Alden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and play with some youth symphonies across the country on behalf of Kids Rock Free, a program of music education for children Miller supports.

One of rock music's all-time greats, the Steve Miller Band has sold more than 30 million records in a career spanning more than 40 years. His trademark blues-rock sound made him one of the key artists in classic rock radio. Call him Maurice, the Space Cowboy, the Gangster of Love or Whatever you like, the Steve Miller Band is brand name rock that millions have come to trust.
