Writing in the official newsletter, Absolva broke the news of a slight hiccup to the new album recording as bassist Dan Bate recovered from surgery, but went on to talk about being backing band for Blaze Bayley and plans for a summer tour:
"Well, it's rarely simple & as some of you will know whilst the actual recording has been going really well, last week Dan had surgery for an appendicitis & has been quite ill. He's recovering now & the excellent news is that he re-joins us in the studio this week to complete his bass parts so we're still on schedule to finish in the studio in this our 3rd week of recording.
We're really really happy with the way the songs are sounding & look forward to sharing the Metal goodness with you! Around Christmas or maybe just into the new year we expect to be able to reveal more details to you ... album title, some artwork, & a track to listen to upfront. What we can say is that release date for the album is likely to be 5th May but we'll be looking to get together some exciting pre-order details well before then."
Chris, Martin and Dan continued: "The 3 of us have just been announced as the band members with Blaze Bayley on his 'Soundtracks Of My Life' 30 date European Tour for March/April. Just to be 100% clear, that's not Absolva as support band but the 3 of us as Blaze's band for this tour.
This is a great opportunity for us to continue working whilst taking a small Absolva break before the album release & before our own tours re-start. Very much looking forward to working with Blaze & we're sure to see many of you out there on the road.
"We're booking a UK Tour for May when we'll also have a main support band along as special guests - the UK Tour details should be out within the next couple of weeks. Then, after the Summer festival season, we plan to return to Europe to tour for 2 months September-October, returning to many places we've already visited & some new places too."
This is exciting news for Metal fans - Absolva are ensuring that the Flames of Justice continue to burn brightly.
