Archive: AC/DC Postpone Tour Dates As Brian Johnson Is Advised By Doctors To Quit Touring

First Published 8 March 2016. It looks like it’s bust rather than rock for AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson in the latest bout of bad news to afflict the band.

Jonno’s doctors have asked him to stop touring immediately as he is running the risk of “total hearing loss”. The band have rescheduled the ten remaining upcoming US dates on the Rock Or Bust World Tour and have said they will likely play these with a guest vocalist.

Tonight’s show in Atlanta through to Madison Square Garden in New York, NY on April 4th will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist. More information regarding these rescheduled shows as soon as we have it. Current ticket holders can hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled dates or receive a refund at point of purchase.

AC/DC founder member Malcolm Young did not record any parts for the ‘Rock Or Bust’ album and did not participate in the tour after he was diagnosed with dementia. His nephew, Stevie Young, has been filling him for him.

Then drummer Phil Rudd, who did play on the album, went mental and was arrested on charges of drug possession and threatening to kill and was replaced with Chris Slade, who had played with the band in the early 90s, for the tour.

AC/DC were originally considering calling the new album ‘Man Down’ but this idea was scotched due to its preceived negative connotations.

The band are scheduled to play London’s Olympic Stadium and Manchester’s Etihad Stadium later this year. Whether these dates will still go ahead is anyone’s guess and we’ll let you know as soon as we hear something. Hopefully Jonno will do the same.

The band statement read as follows:

“AC/DC are forced to reschedule the 10 upcoming dates on the U.S. leg of their ‘Rock or Bust’ World Tour. AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.

“Tomorrow’s show in Atlanta through Madison Square Garden in New York, NY in early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist. More information regarding these rescheduled shows to come. Current ticket holders can hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled dates or receive a refund at point of purchase.”
