Phil Campbell Formally Opens Lemmy’s Bar At Bloodstock 2016

Bloodstock’s main bar, the newly renamed Lemmy’s Bar, is now open after Phil Campbell cut the ribbon in a moving, entertaining and memorable occasion at Catton Park this afternoon.

The bar is completely decked out in full Motörhead regalia with awesome pictures of the band adorning the whole area.

Phil and his wife Gaynor made their entrance to raucous applause from the thousand or so early festival attendees as ‘Iron Fist’ blasted out from the PA.

Phil addressed the crowd: “Welcome to the legendary and amazing Bloodstock Festival. I’ve played here many times before and it’s been… interesting.

“This is my long suffering wife, Gaynor, she puts up with everything, and we’re here tonight to celebrate. Our music is always going to be celebrated, but tonight we’re celebrating the opening of this amazing bar, for my brother Lemmy.

The assembled throngs interrupted Phil at this point as they broke into a loud chant of “Lemmy, Lemmy, Lemmy.”

Phil smiled broadly and replied: “Lemmy would tell you all to shut the fuck up right now”, to loud applause from everyone.

“He was a Motherfucker… he would be very proud right now and he would want you all to get your rocks off. This place is amazing, all these pictures around… it takes you back…”

Phil was then handed the first ever drink to be served at Lemmy’s Bar and it was of course a very large Lemmy (Jack and coke).

“Its my honour to take the first drink at the newly named Lemmy’s Bar, which is going to live forever, like our music is going to live forever.

“This place is amazing and I’d like to thank everyone, my family, my friends, my band, my management, everyone who has been involved with Motörhead, all my my kids, George and Marilyn, everyone here.

“Lemmy touched everyone’s heart. The music kicks ass, as long as you play it loud. If you play it quiet, it sounds like crap…

“So here we go… I’m playing tonight with my band, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons. My wife wasn’t totally happy with the new name…

“OK everyone, let’s raise a glass to the amazing Mr Lemmy Kilmister.”

Phil was then handed a large pair of scissors and remarked: “I’ve never done anything like this before. I feel like the Queen.”

He then cut the black ribbon and Lemmy’s bar was formally open and at this moment, it’s absolutey packed and the booze is flowing freely.

Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons take the stage at 9.45 tonight and you’ll be able to read all about it right here on MetalTalk later tonight.
