DEEP PURPLE 'FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY' PERFECTLY CAPTURES KNEBWORTH 1985 PERFORMANCE

A strictly limited edition (300 only), hardback 128 page book, individually numbered and signed by the author and housed in a sturdy flight case including four A4 frameable prints chronicling Deep Purple's huge day out at Knebworth on 22nd June 1985 will be released on December 9th.

This hardback 128 page book is a strictly limited edition of 300 with each one individually numbered and signed by the author. Complete with a sturdy flight case this special item also comes with four A4 frameable prints reproduced on quality 400gsm premium board. The book contains a foreword by Roger Glover.

Deep Purple came to an end in 1976 but MkII reunited in 1984 for the 'Perfect Strangers' album and toured America and Japan before reaching Europe in June 1985.

They played four sold out shows in Sweden, two large festivals in Germany, three gigs in France and many more around the continent, however in their homeland fans had to settle for just one open-air concert at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.

It was the wettest June day since records began but for the 75,000 who attended it was an experience to savour, with many too young to have seen Purple in the seventies, witnessing them for the first time.

'For One Night Only' is a celebration of that day, based around the huge number of previously unpublished photos of the event, including images from Pete Still and George Bodnar whose photos were used on Purple's official 'In The Absence Of Pink' album, which was recorded at Knebworth 85.

According to then-Sounds photographer Tony Mottram, who had braved the weather all day, just prior to Purple taking the stage, they were all moved from the press pit. Fortunately it didn't deter the photographers too much and whilst some took photos from further back, Alan Perry had wormed his way into the front of the crowd to take his shots.

Mick Gregory however was fortunate enough to be allowed to stand on Jon Lord's side of the stage and his photos offer a different perspective.

'For One Night Only' also looks at the build up and the aftermath with the story told by Purple aficionado Jerry Bloom. Drawing on interviews and memories from the band and crew it also includes personal recollections from the photographers, the band, the fans and much more.

All purchasers of 'For One Night Only' can enter a competition to list all the Deep Purple song titles that can be found in the introductory chapter of the text and the first three successful entrants will win a 50% refund on the book price.

Considering used ticket stubs for the gig are often sold on eBay for £20 or more, we feel that this is a superb opportunity to own what will inevitably become a collector's item in its own right. These will sell quickly so once they are gone that's it!

Order now and get it delivered before Christmas.

MONSTERS OF ROCK IN FULL FLIGHT SURE TO BECOME FUTURE COLLECTOR'S ITEM

monsters of rock

Monsters Of Rock In Full Flight is strictly limited to 300 worldwide and is available from 30th November but those ordering before 31st October will have their name published within a dedicated page in the book.

It's a deluxe 128 page hardback book in a metal flight case with a narrative by Jerry Bloom.

When promoter Paul Loasby put on the first Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1980 he could probably never have imagined it would become an annual event that would endure for so many years.

Featuring bands from the UK, Germany, Canada and USA, Loasby chose to stage the event at the Donington race circuit in the middle of England and it would prove to be a defining moment for many of the bands on the bill.

Not least for headliners Rainbow as it was the their last ever show to feature drum legend Cozy Powell. As it would happen it turned out to be the last for vocalist Graham Bonnet as well. For many of the other bands on the bill such as Scorpions, Judas Priest and Saxon, they were all on the ascendancy and would soon go on to even greater success.

Now in celebration of this first ever Monsters Of Rock Festival comes this hardback book full of glorious photos of the bands that took to the stage for that inaugural event including back stage shots. Most of these shots have not been published before which add to the uniqueness of this deluxe 128-page book which is packaged in its own flight case.

Also included are stories surrounding the event with tales and recollections from those who were there, including artists and fans alike. Each book will be signed by the author. The 300 will sell fast and definitely go on to become collector's items so order yours now right here to avoid disappointment.
