||NORTH OF THE WALL FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2017 BILL
18th December 2016
Scotland's North of the Wall Festival returns for a fifth year and after the success of last year's sold out event, the organisers have put together a very strong bill of extreme acts from around the UK and Europe.
The festival is being held over three venues in Glasgow city centre (Ivory Blacks, the Classic Grand and Audio) on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th April 2017 and amongst those acts playing are Greek Occult and Shamanic Black Metallers Acherontas and legendary Canadian Noise/Black/War-Metal masters Revenge.
Other exclusive performances are scheduled from Polish Black Metal overlords Mgła who will finally bring their crushing mix of Death/Black and utter darkness to Scotland and German Thrash Metal act Nocturnal who are back after a hiatus of two years and will take to the stage again to spew forth their Unholy Thrash Metal mayhem - old school Teutonic Black/Thrash at it's best.
Other bands booked include Bast, a London trio specialising in an unhealthy blend of Black Metal and Doom, with a flair for experimentation and emphasis on storytelling alongside Craven Idol, with members of Scythian and Crom Dubh, who are gearing up for a new release.
From further afield are German Death Metal institution Drowned, Berlin's Black Metal spectres Essenz who will play their debut Scottish show at the festival. Sweden is represented by Hetroertzen who were originally founded in Chile, before relocating to Scandinavia.
From Scotland comes Monad, a highly individual esoteric extreme Metal from Glasgow, who are at times psychedelic before unleashing the raw power of early Morbid Angel or Hellhammer. Another highly anticipated set will be from Call From The Grave, featuring a number of musicians from the UK scene who have joined to play a tribute set to one of the great figures in Metal, Quorthon, consisting of tracks from the first three albums of Bathory's back catalogue.
