Seminal space-rockers Hawkwind will play Desertfest 2018 which takes on 4th May to 6th May in Camden, London.

Hawkwind will return to the hallowed ground of The Roundhouse to play a very special performance as main support to Monster Magnet.

Desertfest organisers said:

"Hawkwind require no real introduction - genre-defining mavericks since 1969, it's safe to say most of your favourite bands wouldn't exist without Hawkwind; their legend precedes them, expect a life affirming, life altering show. We are beyond excited."

As well as Monster Magnet and Hawkwind, High On Fire, Lionize, Graveyard, Napalm Death, Eyehategod, Weedeater, The Obsessed, Steak Number Eight, Akercocke and many more are confirmed for Desertfest.

Alongside his performance with The Obsessed, leading man Wino will perform an acoustic set across the Desertfest weekend. Last time the frontman played an acoustic set at Desertfest the queue was out the door; the set is stripped back but still totally heavy.

Yesterday Hawkwind announced extra dates for their brand new concept show, 'In Search Of Utopia - Infinity And Beyond', due to overwhelming public demand and after having sold out the iconic London Palladium ten months in advance.

The score for the show is produced by the legendary Mike Batt. Known as both the man who discovered Katie Melua and the musical mastermind behind The Wombles. Bet you never thought The Wombles would make it onto the MetalTalk pages...

Mike has had a stellar career across radio, film and TV working with musicians such as Roger Daltrey, Lemmy, Status Quo and Huey Lewis. He has also has conducted some of the world's greatest orchestras including the London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic.
