ALL CHARGES DROPPED IN BEHEMOTH POLISH NATIONAL SYMBOL CASE
17th April 2018
All charges against Behemoth frontman Adam 'Nergal' Darski for allegedly disrespecting a Polish national symbol have been dropped.
Nergal was formally charged three months ago over Behemoth's 'Republic Of The Unfaithful' tour artwork and merchandise, which was said to be "insulting" to the national coat of arms of Poland.
On its wings the rainbow's light...
It's flying to eternity...
The District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk referred the case to court and said that an expert on heraldry and iconography determined that Behemoth's artwork featured "a distorted image of Poland's national emblem" and "included elements and symbols considered Satanist and anti-Christian, with the aim of conveying content far removed from the historical and state ideology".
Nergal, along with Maciej G, the band's webmaster, and Rafał Wechterowicz, the graphic artist who worked on the design, were charged with publicly affronting the Polish national emblem, an offence which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
Nergal has now stated that the 'Republic Of The Unfaithful' design will soon be back in stock in the Behemoth webstore, as well as making the following post on Instagram:
Behemoth just released their new live DVD/Blu-ray, 'Messe Noire', filmed at shows in Warsaw, Poland on October 8th 2016 and Brutal Assault 2016. The collection also includes 'The Satanist' cinematic archive featuring all official videos associated with the band's last album.
Two videos have been released from 'Messe Noire', ''Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel' and 'O Father O Satan O Sun!', as well as an official teaser and here they all are.
