Eluveitie's new line-up is complete and the band have played their first gigs which have gone down a storm.

Chrigel Glanzmann's Swiss Folk Metal warriors presented the new band members one by one on their website over the Festive period and on 1st January, they finally announced the last new band member and the completed line-up.

There were absolutely no surprises in the announcements with eight of the now nine-piece band being members who had been part of the temporary line-up that kept the band in action after Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter departed back in May. The ninth member is Fabienne Erni on vocals, celtic harp and mandola. Here's a video of Fabienne singing 'A Rose For Epona', accompanied by guitarist Rafael Salzmann.

So the new line-up in full is, left to right in the picture above:

Jonas Wolf (guitars)
Matteo Sisti (whistles, bagpipes, mandola)
Nicole Ansperger (fiddle)
Alain Ackermann (drums)
Chrigel Glanzmann (vocals, whistles, mandola, bagpipes, bodhran)
Fabienne Erni (vocals, celtic harp, Mandola)
Kay Brem (bass)
Michalina Malisz (hurdy gurdy)
Rafael Salzmann (guitars)

The band states: "Above all we're super happy and thankful that we're complete again (even more than complete, actually) and given the chance to have such gifted musicians on board. What could be a better start into a new year? 2017 is our year!

"We cannot wait to enter the studios soon and finish 'Evocation II'. And right afterwards we'll be back with full force to rock the summer festival stages. Cheers & sláinte."

The new line-ups first gigs took place at Z7, Pratteln, Switzerland on 6th and 7th of January at the Eluveitie & Friends festival and on 8th January at the Interlaken Greenfield Festival and Estonia's Resurrection Fest.

The band play tonight in Jaromer, Switzerland at the Brutal Assault gig. There is only one summer festival confirmed so far and that is Summer Breeze in Sinbronn, Germany on August 16th.

The band stated after their first gigs:

"Dear fans and fellow Metalheads. It is done. Eluveitie & Friends VI is over, we've played the first two shows with our complete new line-up... and we had the most amazing time with you all. This weekend simply has been awesome and you all have been an absolutely incredible audience.

"From all our hearts we wanna thank you all for celebrating with us, for your incredible support, for your loyality and for being who you are! Who knows... but we think we have the best fans in the world.

"We'd also like to thank all of our amazing crew and everybody behind the scenes who made our small but fine festival possible. And of course our thanks and cheers also go out to all the great bands that rocked Z7 the last two days - our dear friends from Irij, Final Story, Koenix, GurD, Varg, Saltatio Mortis and Sodom.

"And now we will seclude ourselves from the world for a while.... and totally focus on finishing our upcoming album: 'Evocation II'.

"But we'll still keep you up to date, of course. We wish you all a really, really good time. Cheers and sláinte."

Cellar Darling, the band formed by Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter, enter studios this week to begin recording their debut album. Both Cellar Darling and Eluveitie feature on Steve Göldby Talks Metal, the UK's hottest Metal show, this Wednesday at 4.00pm right here.
