kobra and the lotus

The brand new Kobra And The Lotus album, 'Prevail I', will be released on May 12th 2017 via Napalm Records and was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen and today, track number three from the album is premiering here on MetalTalk.

It's the second track to be released from the album after the explosive Canadian Hard Rockers completed work on their new opus. You can see 'Gotham' below as well as the special studio footage, 'Prevail I' artwork, tracklisting and upcoming Kobra And The Lotus tour dates. Here's the premiere of 'You Don't Know'.

Vocalist Kobra Paige told us:

"In 2015, I decided we needed to go to Denmark to record with Jacob Hansen. It was going to be a double album, and we were going to write both albums there in an organic way like they did in the 70s. I think everyone thought I was slightly crazy but they all bravely hopped onboard and, sure enough, we wrote the best music of our lives to date.

"I have never felt so proud of our music until now, and I was super proud of how everyone involved, stretched and pushed themselves to their creative limits. We needed to evolve. We needed to work harder at nailing down what made us Kobra And The Lotus. We needed to be more relatable to people so the messages could travel further.

"The studio experience was brutally challenging, stressful, and unbelievably humbling. We learned a ton and bled a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it. This album represents exactly what it's titled. 'Prevail' is a testament of our strength and determination to never give up. 'Prevail' is the strength of all people prevailing through life."

And here's the first release from 'Prevail I', the album's opening track 'Gotham'.

Kobra Paige said about the story of 'Prevail I', the band's most ambitious effort to date:

"When we are born, we are innocent, pure, and unshaped. This mandala signifies a human at the beginning of it's journey. Unscathed and beautiful, the mandala is each and every one of us.

"As this album unfolds, you will notice it's more than just music. 'Prevail I' is a story of visceral truth and I believe, if we're really being honest with ourselves, everyone will find their story within it. After all, the battles may differ, but we all started as the same mandala and we are more relatable than we'd like to admit.

"Our only wish is that you may enjoy the freaking crap out of this album and find comfort in realizing you're not alone."

Kobra And The Lotus are:

monsters of rock

Monsters Of Rock In Full Flight is strictly limited to 300 worldwide and is available from 30th November but those ordering before 31st October will have their name published within a dedicated page in the book.

It's a deluxe 128 page hardback book in a metal flight case with a narrative by Jerry Bloom.

When promoter Paul Loasby put on the first Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1980 he could probably never have imagined it would become an annual event that would endure for so many years.

Featuring bands from the UK, Germany, Canada and USA, Loasby chose to stage the event at the Donington race circuit in the middle of England and it would prove to be a defining moment for many of the bands on the bill.

Not least for headliners Rainbow as it was the their last ever show to feature drum legend Cozy Powell. As it would happen it turned out to be the last for vocalist Graham Bonnet as well. For many of the other bands on the bill such as Scorpions, Judas Priest and Saxon, they were all on the ascendancy and would soon go on to even greater success.

Now in celebration of this first ever Monsters Of Rock Festival comes this hardback book full of glorious photos of the bands that took to the stage for that inaugural event including back stage shots. Most of these shots have not been published before which add to the uniqueness of this deluxe 128-page book which is packaged in its own flight case.

Also included are stories surrounding the event with tales and recollections from those who were there, including artists and fans alike. Each book will be signed by the author. The 300 will sell fast and definitely go on to become collector's items so order yours now right here to avoid disappointment.
