23rd September 2016

Edition thirteen of Cum On Feel The Newz. '13' wasn't unlucky for Black Sabbath as they scored their first ever number one album with their 2013 offering which saw the original line-up reunited.

Let's do this...

Legendary German alcohol soaked thrash Metal heroes Tankard are currently working on the follow up to their highly acclaimed 2014 album, 'R.I.B.' (Rest In Beer) which was released June 20th 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The guys will enter Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf with engineer Martin Buchwalter in January 2017 to kick off the recording of their 35th anniversary album.

The currently untitled album is planned for a 2017 release via Nuclear Blast. More info coming soon... stay tuned.

Secret Sphere is a name guaranteed to cause a positive reaction from all power and symphonic Metal fans. The Italians have released seven studio albums and now have current Whitesnake keyboard player Michele Luppi handling lead vocals. They have a new CD+DVD set which was recorded during a recent tour of Japan to promote a special anniversary edition of their signature album, 'A Time Never Comes'. The album also includes a brand new version of 'Lie To Me', featuring an outstanding duet between Michele Luppi and former Nightwish singer Anette Olzon.

Rik Emmett & RESolution9 are to release their electrifying new album 'RES 9' worldwide on November 11th 2016. 'RES 9' features contributions from Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie, and Rik Emmett's onetime Triumph bandmates, bassist Mike Levine and drummer Gil Moore.

"This album represents a journey through my life," Emmett observes, "and the idea behind a lot of these songs is me trying to figure out who I am, and why I'm doing what I'm doing. There's a common thread of positivity here that ties into the records I was making 30 years ago. What did I learn from making them? You'll hear all of that echoed in the grooves of this album."

To celebrate the release of Heaven Shall Burn's new album, the band just launched a cinematic video for 'Passage Of The Crane' which was directed by Michael Winkler for Iconographic. The band just kicked off their intimate European club tour in Jena and all dates are sold out.

God Damn have unleashed their first single, 'Sing This', in a striking, in-your-face music video. The track has already received airplay from BBC Radio 1 DJ's Daniel P Carter, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Clara Amfo.

The album is set for release today, September 23rd, when the duo will be playing a special album launch show at London's Boston Music Rooms before heading out on tour with Red Fang and then Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes.

Civil War are back and shooting martial anthems into the darkened sky. On November 4th the proud Heavy Metallers are releasing their third epos, 'The Last Full Measure'. The quintet include former Sabaton-members. Comments Nils Patrik Johannson: "After 'The Killer Angels' and 'Gods & Generals', we are extremely proud and can't wait to share the last part of the trilogy! This is our best work so far, at least this is what we think, but I'm sure you won't be disappointed!"

London five-piece Metallers Exist Immortal have announced a UK headline tour, and their signing to brand new label Primordial Records. The tour kicks off on release day, running for eight dates, including shows in Southampton, Bristol, Edinburgh and a stop off in the capital with a date at The Black Heart, Camden. The band will also be performing at this year's Euroblast Festival alongside Born Of Osiris, Veil Of Maya, Heart Of A Coward and many more.

The band also recently released their latest single ‘Follow Alone', taken from their brand new album 'Breathe', out October 28th. You can watch the video.

Front man Meyrick de la Fuente told us: "Really happy we've signed to Primordial, it's awesome to be working with a group of people that share the same vision as us for the music we are making. We can't wait for people to hear this album!"

Aaron Keylock will release his debut single 'Against The Grain' on 6th October. Before releasing an official single he has been gigging heavily since the age of 11, playing over 200 shows. You will be able to pick up the limited 7" vinyl single when Aaron is on tour from October to December with Wilko Johnson, Joanne Shaw Taylor and for the Planet Rock Roadstars tour with SIMO and Federal Charm.

The Kentucky Headhunters return with their twelfth album, 'On Safari', set for release on November 4th. 'On Safari', a Plowboy Records/Practice House Records joint venture, comes after several life-changing events for The Kentucky Headhunters. Band members/brothers Richard and Fred Young poignantly lost their father just three days before heading into the studio to record the album, which they have dedicated in his memory.

The band recently completed their first-ever European tour, including a trail-blazing performance on the main stage at the UK's Ramblin' Man Fair. The band credit Richard Young's son, John Fred, and his Black Stone Cherry bandmates for pushing them out of their comfort zone to make the trek abroad, where many of the Headhunters’ rock influences call home.

Watch a behind-the-scenes video of the band in the studio recording 'On Safari'.

Spinefarm Records, part of the Universal Music Group, have signed hotly-tipped UK outfit The One Hundred. The band have garnered a reputation for explosive performances, taking to the road in support of such high profile artists as Papa Roach, Crossfaith and Motley Crue, with whom they guested in arenas. Says Spinefarm Records UK Head of A&R Dante Bonutto: "The One Hundred are impressive on a number of different levels, two of the main ones being their refusal to be limited by genre, plus their desire to set the song-writing bar very high. It's exciting to work with a band where you can think on broad terms, and where you can look to compete and make a difference. These guys are ready to leave their mark... and they rock!"

Frontman Jacob Field says: "Not long ago, we played our first shows, and even less time ago we put out five songs, hoping people might take notice. We've had one hell of a ride so far and it really is just the beginning. We can't wait to unleash some new music and we're incredibly excited to be working with Spinefarm globally to achieve our goals."

Rockshots Records have revealed all the details of Black Yet Full Of Stars' debut album to be released on October 22th 2016. You can listen to 'Golden Child', the first single taken from the self-titled album below. The tracklist is Lightborn/ Golden Child/ Face To Face/ A Boy In Chains/ Lords Of Silence/ Every Great Man's Ghost/ The Last Against The Wolve/ Tempesta.

The album has been produced, mixed and mastered by Stefano Morabito (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance, etc) at 16th Cellar Studios.

The Dear Hunter have a brand new music video for 'Gloria', the latest single from their recently released album 'Act V: Hymns With The Devil In Confessional'. The video is presented as a short film by Silent Flight and is directed by Erez Bader.

When asked about the collaboration Bader said: "For as long as I can remember it has been my biggest dream to bring The Dear Hunter's concept of The Acts to life. I feel as if every obstacle that I've ever had to overcome in my life, film-related or not, has led me to this project. I'm honoured that the band and management put their faith in our incredibly bonkers script for 'Gloria', I'm sure it was quite staggering to be handed a full-on short film screenplay as a music video treatment. Music videos are one of the last bastions for experimental filmmaking and it's a shame that doing an ambitious project like this is mostly unheard of nowadays. I very much hope that this project inspires other filmmakers and musicians to collaborate on a large scale more frequently."

After 14 years Demonic Resurrection keyboardist Mephisto has parted ways with the band. Mephisto told us: "The upcoming album. To be honest, it sounds very good. But the creative differences are far too great for me to ignore. And I cannot have that on my conscience. Which is why after 14 glorious years, I've decided to step down as an active full-time member of the band.

"The future. At some point I would like to release some music on my own. I wish the band more success. They are not only talented musicians but amazing people too and if they ever need my services to perform live again, I'll always be available. I'd like to say a special and heartfelt thank you to Demonstealer for providing me with the opportunity to be a part of this awesome journey. The times I've spent with the band have been the best. But at this point I believe this is the right thing to do. I hope the fans understand my decision and continue to support the band. Cheers and stay demonic."

Demonic Resurrection are currently in the studio finishing up their fifth full-length album which is slated for an early 2017 release. No replacement has been announced yet.

Powerwolf have presented their new guitars made by Framus. The band have been developing, alongside guitar experts, their new instruments for over nine months. The new series has the classic V-shape with unique design and rendition. Framus guitars will now have a profound impact on the band's future progress and as Matthew Greywolf tells Spark TV in an exclusive interview, he cannot wait to record with the new guitars.

New Powerwolf guitars had their live premiere on September 3rd at Reeveland 2016 festival produced by Framus&Warwick and the band will present their new guitars on their tour with Epica beginning on January 12th.

JOANovARC release their raw, raunchy and powerful debut album, 'Ride Of Your Life', through Red Vixen Records on November 11th. Produced by Grammy Award winning Gil Norton (The Pixies, Foo Fighters), 'Ride Of Your Life' was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios. "He was completely different to what we expected, he brought the best out of us in the studio and let us breathe as musicians and made us feel like we were free to express everything in the studio," said the band.

'Ride Of Your Life' is the journey of the band's life from the beginning to present, the ups and downs on the road. "We are all great friends but have been through everything together, heartache, death, illness, sweat, blood, great times, addiction, narcotics, break ups, celebrations, fights and tears!"

Berlin-based trio Kadavar have announced they will play two UK headline shows alongside their Autumn tour supporting label-mates Blues Pills. The shows are on November 3rd at Belfast, Voodoo and November 7th at Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach.

Kadavar released their latest album, 'Berlin', last year, and recently released the fourth video for the 'Berlin' visual album concept and here it is.

After the successful release of Xandria's latest album 'Sacrificium' (2014, Napalm Records) and their EP 'Fire & Ashes”'(2015, Napalm Records), the band are now ready to unleash their latest release. The brand new album, 'Theater Of Dimensions', will be released worldwide on January 27th 2017 and the band told us:

"After the release of 'Sacrificium' we embarked on our longest Tour so far. Over 150 shows that took us around the globe. Through so many different countries and diverse cultures. Through so many different, yet inspiring dimensions. We brought back plenty of memories, sometimes just bits and pieces, but those stuck to our heads. And it made us see who we are and where we wanted to take our music. Made us fearless. Made us push our boundaries once more. Made us cross some so-called genre defining borders. Made us bundle all our trademarks and take them to the next level.

"All this makes the most colourful Xandria album so far. It contains our most heavy and most emotional moments. Again, producer Joost van den Broek did a phenomenal job capturing the atmosphere down to every detail. A Theater of musical Dimensions. Can’t wait to share the songs with you..."

Denmark's Forever Still will embark on a massive European tour together with The Italian Gothfathers from Lacuna Coil.

"We are beyond thrilled for this tour!", singer Maja states. "We have wanted to visit our fans all around Europe for a long time, and this line-up with Lacuna Coil is the perfect fit. Not only am I excited to tour with a band I've been listening to growing up, they're also in the top three of bands our fans have requested us to tour with! We really can't wait, and I can only imagine the fans are gonna be as excited for this, as we are!"

In anticipation of their new album 'V', Truckfighters have launched a new video for the track 'Hawkshaw', the second single from the upcoming album which is penned for a September 30th release via their own label, Fuzzorama Records and Century Media Records.

'Hawkshaw' is a high intensity kind of a crazy song thus we thought it'd fit perfect with a video thats kind of crazy as well." comments the band on the new single.

Thirty years after his breakthrough solo release 'Tones' brought him national recognition, Texan guitar legend Eric Johnson is releasing his first all-acoustic album. Showcasing nine original compositions and four covers, EJ is Johnson’s most intimate album to date. "Ever since I was young, I've played piano and acoustic guitar in my private life," Johnson says. "This type of music has always been a part of me, but I never showcased it on any kind of bigger level, like a full acoustic record. With EJ, I just decided to be more honest with myself and everybody, and show more of my personal side."

In support of EJ's October 2016 release, Johnson will embark on a series of US tours that will bring him to about 60 cities nationwide. Stay tuned for dates and details.

Heaven Below, which features Union Underground/Lita Ford guitarist Patrick Kennison, released the first official video for the song 'Renegade Protest Movement', taken from their umcoming album 'Good Morning Apocalypse', due out via David Ellefson's EMP Label Group/eOne Entertainment (USA) and SPV (Europe) on Friday, October 14th. The band's third full-length studio effort is a concept record that is set in a post-apocalyptic world. It features guest appearances from Lita Ford, Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth, Watchtower), Udo Dirkschneider(U.D.O., Accept) and Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus). The video can be seen here:

Australian melodic hard rockers The Radio Sun return with their new album 'Outside Looking In'. The boys continue where they left off as vocal harmonies, soaring guitar solos and catchy choruses dominate. Ex Danger Danger vocalist Paul Laine lends a hand with production duties and also features on the song Wink and Smile with a dual lead vocal alongside lead vocalist Jason Old.

The Radio Sun will be launching the new album with upcoming worldwide live dates scheduled in Australia, USA, UK and Japan. They will be appearing in the UK at HRH AOR Fest5 in March 2017.

The album was recorded at Peter Cross Studios between December 2015 and May 2016 by Petteri Lammassaari and was mixed and mastered by Jarno Hänninen at D-Studio. Artwork is done by Niko Bauer from PoorAndStarving.

KOB from Croatia have published their first album, 'Sinister Salvation', on YouTube and are apparently accepting donations for guitarist's sunglasses... here's 'Chains'.

The new age of electronic metalcore is here, accoring to The Dreamer Within, who have just launched their music video for the single 'C.M.N.K.S' (Crystal Meth Nightmare Killing Spree) which you can view here:

The band say this about the song: "This song is predominantly about rising up to those who try to manipulate and control who you are and to not let anyone stand in the way of your goals, everyone deserves the opportunity to make something of themselves but every once and a while you have to fight for what you believe in."

The quintet are about to release their debut EP, 'This Is Not Our Home'.

Swedish melodic nu-metallers Rednote have released a lyric video for the song 'Jenga', taken from the forthcoming EP 'Born Days In Continuum – Chapter 1: Unity', which is out now. The video was made by Joakim Dahlström at avaudio productions and can be viewed here:

NOW AEROSMITH FANS CAN HAVE THEIR NAME IN FUTURE COLLECTOR'S ITEM

aerosmith

Here's a fabulous Aerosmith pictorial document as seen through the lens of famed British photographer Tony Mottram. Tony photographed the band over many years for various magazines and now has a monthly column here on MetalTalk.

As was often the case, only one photo ever got published and in the fast moving world of weekly magazines sometimes entire sessions would be done and left undeveloped.

Tony started shooting Aerosmith from towards the end of the period with Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay and onwards through the return of original members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford that resulted in the albums 'Done With Mirrors', 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump'.

As well as shooting the band several times in England, this collection includes images from a session at the band's rehearsal room in Boston. Littered throughout is a mixture of live and off stage photos including a selection of photos taken at London's famous Marquee club when they were joined on stage by Jimmy Page.

This limited edition hardback book, presented in a flight case and printed on silk paper, is an opportunity to own a unique selection of photos, most of which have never seen the light of day before.
