  cum on feel the newz

7th October 2016

Edition fifteen of Cum On Feel The Newz. XVLTR (pronounced Fifteen Litre) are a Heavy Metal band from Brighton, UK who were formed in October 2004 and Mammothfest 2010 Battle of the bands finalists. Their three track 'Demolition EP' is available exclusively via xvltr.co.uk.

Let's do this...

Most of The Devil Wears Prada's videos have trodden into unusual territories, and, as it tells a powerful love story that transcends time and space, the one for the band's new song 'To The Key Of Evergreen', is no exception.

With inspiration from Mike Hranica's all-time favourite love story, Vladimir Nabokov's 'Lolita', the 'To The Key Of Evergreen' video follows a young man who crosses impossible barriers of dimension and time to be with his true, lost love.

The video was directed by Maria Juranic who also directed Prada's critically-acclaimed 'First Sight' and 'War' videos, as well as Doomtree's 'Final Boss'. Said Hranica: "Maria was able to distill into the video the love story's warmth and emotion that is apparent in the song's lyrics. Even her first edit blew us out of the water."

'To The Key Of Evergreen" is from the band's upcoming album, 'Transit'.

The latest album of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, 'Prometheus', was chosen to be the first studio album in music history to be remixed in Dolby Atmos. Renowned producer/mixing engineer Chris Heil (David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Scorpions) mixed the entire masterpiece in Dolby Atmos - the mind blowing result will be submitted for the 2017 Grammy nominations. Prometheus, The Dolby Atmos Experience + Cinematic & Live will be released December 9th via Nuclear Blast.

Luca Turilli, responsible for composition and orchestra- and choir-arrangements states: "The new Dolby Atmos sound fits perfectly with Luca Turilli's Rhapsody music just as the Rhapsody music - emotional, visionary and cinematic in its nature - is perfect to showcase the potential of an amazing technology destined to revolutionize the field of immersive audio's experience. From a composer's point of view, Dolby Atmos is like the advent of a canvas with colors in three dimensional space. It enables me to place the band, orchestra and choir around me like I would in a real life situation, granting to the listener an emotional and breathtaking journey in a parallel dimension.

"Every instrument can finally breathe and live in three dimensions, turning the Dolby Atmos version of Rhapsody's music into a divine, musical experience of transcendence. No limits for creativity anymore. This new Dolby technology allows my heart and soul to finally express themselves with complete freedom and exciting force!"

Rhapsody Of Fire (formerly Rhapsody) have announced that vocalist Fabio Leoni has parted company with the Italian Symphonic Power Metal band.

Fabio had been a member of the band since 1995, when Rhapsody were still known as Thundercross and his melodic operatic vocals had fronted every Rhapsody (Rhapsody of Fire since 2006), including five that featured Sir Christopher Lee.

Founder member and keyboard player Alex Staropoli posted on the band's social media: "I am addressing all the fans of Rhapsody Of Fire through this personal message. I know that the announcement of the separation with Fabio has left many of you very sad. I really understand that. This is for sure a big chapter of the band that ends but, most importantly, another exciting chapter is about to begin. At this time, I would like to thank Fabio for his collaboration during those last twenty years.

Many would describe this situation as difficult. I rather believe that it is a new exciting challenge. With our latest studio album 'Into The Legend' we proved again to the world the huge impact that Rhapsody Of Fire can make in metal music. We are now working to create a new line-up and consolidate it for the years to come. Rhapsody Of Fire are definitely alive and this change is an opportunity for us to create exciting music with a new distinct vocal identity."

Earlier this year, Cali rockers All Hail The Yeti released 'Screams From A Black Wilderness', their second studio album based around classic campfire-circle style horror stories and presenting a different story with each track. However, one track on the album, 'Mr Murder', stood by itself and was not part of the album theme. Instead it was written to honour All Hail The Yeti vocalist Connor Garritty's late best friend, Matthew Berube. The track features guest vocals from Brock Lindow of 36 Crazyfists.

Connor tells us: "We are very excited to finally release the video for 'Mr.Murder'. This was shot over the last few tours, compiled with live footage and tour antics while paying tribute to our brother Matthew Berube who passed away in 2015. It also features our dear friend, Brock Lindow of 36 Crazyfists who flew out from Alaska to join us on the 'Haunted and Damaged' tour to perform live and film the video. This song is very difficult for us to perform live given the subject matter, but also bring us great happiness to immortalize our best friend. Hope you all enjoy... Hail 'Mr.Murder'!"

Ex-Heavy Pettin drummer Gary Moat has confirmed that his new outfit, Burnt Out Wreck, have just inked a deal with The Right Honourable Recording Company Ltd (TRHRC) which will be distributed by Cherry Red Records.

Gary told us: "I've signed a new worldwide record contract with The Right Honourable Recording Company Ltd through Cherry Red and a new worldwide publishing contract with Chelsea Music Publishing Company Ltd. I am very, very excited and honoured to be working with them. The album is set for release February 2017. Thanks for all your support and kind words, it was worth the wait... it is a crazy experience to be doing this again but I am loving it!"

Gary Moat is the guitarist and frontman for Burnt Out Wreck and the band also features Adrian Dunn on lead guitars. The duo have been working on a new album, which is being co-produced by Moat and Steve Rispin (Asia, Inglorious) at the latters Liscombe Park Studio, just outside Milton Keynes.

Due to unforeseen conflicts in their recording schedule, Westfield Massacre have had to pull out of the forthcoming Devil You Know tour in January, which will take place in the UK. They have been replaced by Progressive Metal outfit Oni who have just signed to Blacklight Media/Metalblade Records.

The tour will still have Wearing Scars and Brutai as UK support.

The new single from UK five-piece Liberty Lies, 'Are You Listening?', has hit the decks here at MetalTalk Towers. The band have previously toured with Shinedown, Halestorm and Magnum while their latest efforts have earned them a spot on tour with Saliva, SOiL and Sons of Texas this coming November. This new track merges nu-metal tinted guitars and distorted bass with prog-infused vocals, calling to mind the sounds of Protest The Hero or even Alter Bridge.

Seeker have revealed 'Void', the second video from their upcoming album 'Loss'. The full album will be available from Friday 14th October. Clocking in at 25 minutes, Seeker will deliver Loss in its entirety as they hit the road with The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, Traitors and Spite beginning next week. On December 1st, they will continue pummeling the road with a headlining tour to be announced shortly.

The powerful track is "about the day that the person who I loved more than anyone died and the mental and emotional aftermath of her suicide," divulges frontman/bassist Bryce Lucien. "Most of songs on the album are about the events leading up to that. It's why I left the band. That's as much as I'll get into it. I came back into the band because it was the only way I knew how to process through everything that happened."

Nervus is a Watford based indie-punk rock band that sound like the wonderful amalgamation of Alkaline Trio and Into It. Over It. Nervus started as a bedroom project and saw guitarist/vocalist Em create and write music to help cope overcoming addictions in various different forms as well as working through their own gender identity. First track on the record's called 'Oh Joy', it's probably the loveliest song on the album but damn it's an uncomfortable listen at times in the best possible way. Em shot the video for it down in Brighton a while back and has these nice words to say about the song:

"It's about my relationship with alcohol and addiction, and how you just end up replacing addictions with other ones until you get to the real root cause of the problem. I was listening to a lot of Alanis Morissette at the time, and tried to channel some 'You Oughtta Know' with this because there is nothing more hairbrush-microphone righteous than a scathing break-up tune."

Milton Keynes genre-defying quintet Hacktivist will conclude a successful 2016 with their Outside The Box UK headline tour, joined by Zoax and Bad Sign.

"We've played a lot of shows this year, overseas and here at home, but not actually that many headline shows," says bassist Josh Gurner. "We also finished the summer in a big way... had an amazing time playing Reading/Leeds again, and touring Australia with Enter Shikari. Now we're looking forward to smashing it out under our own flag in sweaty clubs. It's going to be great having Zoax and Bad Sign out with us. UK Rock is going through a real moment right now, and this touring circus just highlights that."

Tour dates are as follows:
10.12.16 - London, Camden Underworld
12.12.16 - Bristol, Thekla
13.12.16 - Birmingham, Flapper
14.12.16 - Manchester, Sound Control
15.12.16 - Glasgow, Audio
16.12.16 - Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
17.12.16 - Brighton, Sticky Mikes

Rude Records is proud to announce the release of 'New Car Smell', the new EP from Southern California punk rock heroes Guttermouth, due out on November 25th worldwide in collaboration with Bird Attack Records. The EP is the follow-up to 'Got It Made', their first EP of new music in ten years, which was released in early July.

The band comments: "There wasn't a lot of pressure to do that first EP so the process was fun, and we just wrote some songs. We had no idea at all what to expect from our fans, but their response was great! We had a few more ideas up our sleeve, so this gave us quite a bit of motivation to kick it in gear and write another record, and hopefully a better one. We had lots of ideas and narrowed it down to another six songs which we all feel good about. Once we had it all sorted out, we went back to Florida and recorded 'em!"

Want to have a taste of the new EP? Here's the first single 'New Car Smell'.

Los Angeles post hardcore band Touché Amoré follow the release of their critically acclaimed new album, 'Stage Four', with the announcement today of live dates across Europe throughout January and February next year. A formidable live prospect, they will play the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany and much of Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, the tour ending at Islington Academy in London, marking their biggest headlining show in the capital yet.

Los Angeles quartet Dawes returned home to record their fifth album 'We're All Gonna Die' with longtime friend and collaborator, Grammy nominated producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes). The album was released in September on the band's own Hub Records to rave reviews and features ten original tracks and includes backing vocals from Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, Mandy Moore and Will Oldham.

Of the album, Taylor Goldsmith (guitar, vocals) explained: "These songs were all written in a very short period of time, very close together. In that sense I feel like there was a consistency in mood and outlook our other records don't have. Pretty much every song on this record explores a difficult situation and tries to find a way to find the good in it, or at least remind yourself that it's not always that big of a deal. After all, as scary as it is, we are all gonna die."

Scattered Hamlet is honky tonk Metal mixed with enough octane to drive in an 18 wheeler. Created to capture the essence of growing up in the country while giving nods to the original classic rock and outlaw country pioneers, Scattered Hamlet is one part Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet and one part Motorhead and Down, featuring a sleazy southern influence laced with heavy rock elements.

Scattered Hamlet's influences range from southern rock to groove metal to doom metal with the attitude of punk rock. With humble origins all across the US and a relentless touring schedule of 100+ shows all across America, the band makes no apologies for the equal love of Harley Davidsons, honky tonks, Les Pauls, Marshalls, shotguns and classic American symbolism.

Their debut full length album, 'Skeleton Dixie', was produced by two time Grammy nominated producer Jason Donaghy (Rob Zombie, John 5, The Murder Dolls) and mastered by legend Howie Weinberg (Pantera, Slayer, White Zombie, Danzig). The band has amassed a strong underground following called Hell Riders who maintain their own chapters (fan clubs) independent of the band.

The band's new album, 'Swamp Rebel Machine' is out November 4th via Black Moon Productions.

Melodic Metal band Angel Nation are based in London but were formed by a Finnish, female singer/songwriter. They've recently released a new video/song called 'Do It Anyway', distributed by Nuclear Blast Records.

Available as a special edition digipack CD available from Nuclear Blast Records and in digital formats. The single was mixed and mastered by Rock producer extraodinaires, Jay Ruston & Paul Logus (Anthrax, Steel Panther). The single also features previously unreleased track 'Devil's Voice Inside' and a live version of 'Never Ending' from the debut LP 'Tears Of Lust'.

Sound Storm are ready and more than excited to reveal their long awaited upcoming project called Vertigo! The album is not simply the follow up to the highly acclaimed 'Immortalia', it's the new #soundstormworld teased massively by the band in the last couple of years.

'Vertigo' can be considered both as a metal album and a multiple episodes tv - series created by Sound Storm and realized by Grey Ladder/DImago productions under the direction of Taiyo Yamanouchi and will be released by Rockshots Records in collaboration with Stageblast Entertainment on Friday 2nd December.

The new album has been engineered by Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, After Forever, Ayreon, etc.) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, the whole artwork was created once again by renowned artist Gustavo Sazes, who's working with the band since 2007.

The single/prologue - episode of Vertigo/The Dragonfly will be available from 4th November, while pre-orders of the album will begin quite soon through their official website.

In 2014, the band members Benny and Roel made an alliance to form Soulemission. Their musical skills and motivation were screaming to create harsh metal with different influences and styles. In that same year Michel joined forces on vocals and since then has been taking care of the lyrics as well; lyrics which basically deal with occultism, misanthropy, melancholy and death.

Honouring the sounds and records from classic death/black metal bands from the nineties, they started writing music for the next year. The music influences range from black to death, heavy to thrash, which make the songs versatile and interesting to listen to.

The covenant was sealed with session drummer Menthor (Enthroned, Lvcifyre, Nightbringer) who did the drums for the debut album 'Tales Of Inevitable Death'. By the appearance of Niklas Kvarforth (Shining) as guest-vocalist on the song 'Seas Of Emptiness' the circle was complete.

Prominent modern rock newcomers From Ashes To New unveil new track 'The Last Time' featuring Deuce. The explosive song continues to push the band's unique sound forward, seamlessly blending styles of rap and rock. 'The Last Time' is available now for steaming worldwide.

Matt Brandyberry told us: "'The Last Time' is a song about all the people who try to bring you down over and over again. It talks about finally making a stand and putting the naysayers in their place. Deuce's part of the song was first written as a heavy breakdown, but after talking with Deuce, we knew his feature was a great fit!”

One part Marilyn Manson, one part Deftones, NorCal's Death Valley High are readying new album, 'CVLT [AS FVK]' for release on 4th November 2016 via minusHEAD Records, with lead single, 'Warm Bodies' available for download now.

Frontman Reyka Osburn tells us: "We wanted the video for 'Warm Bodies' to have some unexpected turns, so that the viewer would have their expectations abruptly altered while watching. We sought to make sure some of the video was filmed in black and white, so that the mind-altering state of our lead characters would translate to the viewer once it changed to colour – like watching a campy old horror film that turns into an 80s action film! We intentionally chose to not include band performance footage or images, so we could really get the story concept across, although if you keep a keen eye during the mini movie, you might catch a glimpse of our scary faces."

After moving on from influential New Wave of American Heavy Metal titans, God Forbid, guitarist and songwriter Doc Coyle did a stint touring with Unearth, Lamb Of God, and became the modern Metal columnist for VH1.com before launching Vagus Nerve with Phyllotaxis singer-songwriter, Ravi Orr.

Vagus Nerve became fully realized as a band in 2014 when they enlisted the talents of drummer, Moe Watson (Shai Hulud), bassist Aden Oxenreider (Cosm), and guitarist Mike Gowen (MoTHER).

After a successful Kickstarter campaign raising 50% above their goal to hire Forrester Savell (12 Foot Ninja, Karnivool) to mix and master their debut, the atmospheric rock band is ready to take the next step.

Everyone's hard work and dedication has been leading to this moment as the band today releases their debut EP, Visceral, on Lost Mystic Records. Listen to it on Spotify here:

Dark progressive rockers Crippled Black Phoenix have shared the second track from their upcoming album 'Bronze' which is released on 4th November via Season of Mist. You can listen to 'Winning A Losing Battle' here.

Currently busy in the studio, Sumo Cyco have taken a moment out from working on the follow up to 2014's 'Lost In Cyco City' to share a brand new track from their forthcoming new album, due out next year. Singer SEVER checked in to say: "I'm so excited to release Anti-Anthem and finally roll out some of the creations we've been working on behind closed doors. I hope everyone finds the same power in Anti-Anthem as I do.

"Anti-Anthem lyrically was inspired by the refugee crisis, but as time went on, the lyrics spoke to so many issues happening in the world today. 'Anti-Anthem' the music video is setting the tone for the whole next album 'Opus Mar'. 'Opus Mar' is a train that runs through Cyco City and all the surrounding areas. The visuals for this record all revolve around this train. So you better get on board!"

Combining their love of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) with blistering guitar riffs, ruthless breakdowns and catchy vocal melodies, The Dreamer Within won't leave you standing still for long!

Hailing from Exeter, UK, the five piece 'Electronicore' band make serious use of electronic elements to create a diverse atmosphere; one minute you can imagine yourself raving in Ibiza, while the next you're showing off your best air guitar skills. Expect soaring technical leads that will find you searching for guitar tabs immediately and synth lines that wouldn't be unwelcome on the latest EDM/Trance Anthems Compilation!

Writing songs with a dark feel but with an underlying positive message is one of the elements that sets this group apart in Metal music today - Drawing on inspiration from supernatural theories, mankind's place in the universe, depression, politics and even their favourite video games.

Shaman's Harvest will continue their 2016 success next year: after selling out headline shows nationwide in the US, millions of views for their singles 'Dangerous' and 'In Chains', multiple entries in the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and over seventeen million combined streams, the band will start the new year with a 25-date tour on mainland Europe with their fellow US-rockers from Black Stone Cherry.

They will continue to tour riding the success of their most recent album 'Smokin' Hearts and Broken Guns'. Cumulative digital sales from their debut album on Mascot Records have exceeded +132,000 digital downloads, while the band's latest single 'In Chains' peaked at #11 on the Mediabase chart after a run of 22 weeks at Active Rock radio. Sales have placed the single in the Top 10 on the iTunes Metal Songs Chart for more than four months.

Singer Nathan Hunt shares: "This past year has been a year of firsts for Shaman's Harvest and that's great and all, but we are only lookin' forward. Future tours and more importantly composing the next record. Resting on our accomplishments makes us fat 'n lazy. If there's one thing rock 'n roll doesn't need it is complacency."

Just a year following the release of their critically acclaimed second album 'Monster Man', French heavy rockers Flayed are back with new EP titled 'XI Million', their first release for French label Kaotoxin Records (6:33, Drawers, The Erkonauts, The Lumberjack Feedback, etc.).

Flayed have found a formula that works, and they see no reason to evolve their modus operandi, so just like their previous two efforts, 'Symphony For The Flayed' from 2014 and 'Monster Man' from 2015, 'XI Million' was recorded in the good old way, on analogue tapes at Cartellier studio in order to capture all the energy and groove their Heavy Rock sound.

Featuring four brand new originals and a cover version of Creedence Clearwater Revival, 'XI Million' displays the band's amazing knack for writing extremely catch Heavy Rock anthems, offering truckloads of heavy and infectious riffs that burrow heavily from rock'n'roll legends like AC/DC, Black Sabbath Or Deep Purple, yet with their own personal touch thrown into the equation.

Skyline is an italian rock band formed in 2004, the basic idea was to play modern and melodic rock. The debut album called 'The Other Words' has been self-produced in 2010 followed by extensive touring. In 2014 there's another fundamental change of line up because immediately after the band found new strenght and inspiration to work on the second album called 'Nowhere Here', a perfect mixture of energy and melody influenced by such bands like Breaking Benjiamin, 30 Second To Mars and 3 Doors Down.

Italian symphonic death Metal masters, Fleshgod Apocalypse, are currently touring Italy in support of their latest record entitled 'King'. But in early 2017 it will be about time for the band to embark on their very first European headline tour: Support will come from Dutch horror metallers Carach Angren and also Italian-based symphonic death metallers in Nightland. The band will perform a one-off UK show at The Underworld in London on 19th January.

Fleshgod Apocalypse commented: "Needless to say we are incredibly excited about this. For our first headlining run across Europe we are preparing a whole new show, a unique live experience that will blow your mind! We can't think of a better way to start the new year."

Carach Angren added: "After three years and many tours around the globe we are very much looking forward to haunt Europe once again!"

Pop Evil released their heartfelt album UP after a strong run of European festival dates including Download, Rock Am Ring, Pinkpop and Graspop. The band are thrilled to announce they will return to Europe to tour in support of 3 Doors Down.

It's an exciting time for the band and a nice homecoming for drummer Hayley Cramer, who recently joined the band and hails from Brighton, UK. Hayley had this to say: "What a great experience it's been to tour America with Pop Evil. We are really just getting started together, but I already feel like I'm at home while touring with these gentlemen. Speaking of home... I'm super excited to get back home to the UK and play these venues on the 3 Doors Down Tour. It's a dream come true!"

Lead singer Leigh Kakaty adds: "Hayley has been the perfect addition to our band. Her precision on the drums have made our songs even tighter live and the way she hits the drums is infectious to watch. Already our fans are blown away when they see her play."

16th October 2016 will see the release of a brand new double EP from Poland's cult act Furia. Entitled 'Guido', the name is taken after a mine of the same name in Zabrze, Poland where the entirety of the material was recorded live, 320 metres underground, on 16 April 2016. Mixing and mastering took place at Czyściec studio in the Silesian town of Chorzów.

Guido is comprised of two separate parts. The first one, entitled 'Stara Polska Księżycowa', will contain two brand new tracks; while the second part, entitled 'Ubrdy cz. 1', will showcase three improvised tracks. Check out a Trailer here:
