  cum on feel the newz

30th December 2016

Edition twenty-seven of Cum On Feel The Newz. Anthropologists recently announced they've stumbled on what they believe to be one of the earliest battle scenes in humanity. Twenty-seven skeletons, about 10,000 years old, were found near Kenya's Lake Turkana.

"One adult male skeleton had an obsidian 'bladelet' still embedded in his skull. It didn't perforate the bone, but another lesion suggests a second weapon did, crushing the entire right-front part of the head and face."

Let's do this...

Death Valley High
Helleborus
Darkship
Blackforce
Shotgunner

In the wake of their recent dates supporting Killing Joke, San Francisco's Death Valley High are set to return to the UK for four dates in February with fellow industrial dance animals, Orgy. DVH frontman Reyka Osburn tells us: "We're super hyped to be coming back over to Europe and the UK with our mates, Orgy. We've talked about it so many times, it was just inevitable. We can't wait to bring this One-Two punch to fans; and to boot, we have along with us our other mates from Germany, Unzucht joining on several of the dates, for a One-Two-Three punch!"

Dates rack up as follows:

Thursday 23rd February: Manchester Ruby Lounge
Friday 24th February: Bristol Fiddlers
Saturday 25th February: London Garage
Sunday 26th February: Southampton Talking Heads

Death Valley High's current album, 'Cvlt [As Fvk]' was released in early November via minusHEAD Records. Check out the mini-horror movie video for lead single, 'Warm Bodies' here:

Following their very successful tour promoting 'The Carnal Sabbath' across both Canada and the US, Black Metal brothers Jerred and Wyatt Houseman, otherwise known as Helleborus from Colorado are releasing the album as a limited edition 2xLP vinyl.

'The Carnal Sabbath' has been described as "Spellbinding, severe, and saturated with elemental puissance... and is a bacchanalian orgy of organic Black Metal magnificence."

Reviewed here, where it was referred to as "a superbly crafted album" and a release that "pushes the exploration of traditional Black Metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism, with the addition of the psychedelic twist on Black Metal as well as aspects of Death and Doom Metal" and was also voted as Jools Green's album of 2016 (here), it will be pressed as 400 black vinyl and as 100 Gold translucent vinyl via Flesh Vessel and will come in a full colour gatefold sleeve. Here's the trailer.

Unleashing their latest album 'Reach For The Sky' for North America via Test Your Metal Records this past November, Japanese Heavy Metallers Solitude have a new lyric video for their track 'Blow'. The track is one of eight fist pounders off the band's third album that was issued in Japan in 2015 by Spiritual Beast and follows 2009s 'Brave The Storm' plus 2001s 'Virtual Image'. 'Reach For The Sky' was mixed by Magnus 'Mankan' Sedenberg, who has previously worked with Bullet and Crucified Barbara along with artwork by Velio Josto (Warlord, Medieval Steel, Ostrogoth).

Brazil's melodic prog power Metallers Darkship have unleashed a new music video, 'II Hearts' in support of their debut album 'We Are Lost' which was released earlier this year. The album features ten songs with album artwork done by artist Carlos Fides of Artside Studio (Evergrey, Noturnall, Shaman, Almah). The album is the first part of the band's concept trilogy based on a fictional story about two people in love who are controlled by a force called Darkship. Watch 'II Hearts', directed by Douglas Castilhos Coutinho right here.

Brazilian thrashers Blackforce have released a new lyric video, 'Downfall', in support of their debut EP 'Slaves To Reality' which was recorded, mixed and mastered at the band's home studio and is available on Bandcamp, iTunes plus Google Play and can be heard in full below. The 'Downfall' lyric video was edited by Marcelo Nespoli.

Edmonton, AB's post apocalyptic party Metal band Shotgunner have teamed up with Blank TV for the exclusive premiere of their new holiday video 'Feliz Navidad'. The video is in celebration of the band's new same titled holiday EP that was unleashed earlier this week to follow their 2015 Xmas release 'A Shotgunner Christmas'.

"We're excited to release another Christmas EP! We hope when you play it around the Christmas table, it's able to make you headbang as well as further alienate you from your loved ones," comments guitarist/vocalist Diego Fernandez.

Seita have released today, December 30th 2016, the single 'Unchain My Heart'. The single is available in digital format only on iTunes, Spotify and some of the best digital platforms.

This is the first time Seita have recorded a cover version and it's the classic written by Bobby Sharp and first recorded in 1961 by Ray Charles. The band found the link between the original lyrical content with their socially charged message: a desire to break free, to be unchained from the dogmas and oppression imposed by society.

Here's the official lyric video for 'A Dream Of Choices' featuring Tom Englund of Evergrey. This is taken from the upcoming album 'Enigma Eternal'.

Russia's Nu-Nation have just released a new live video for 'Insomnia' as a gift for Christmas and New Year. It was directed and produced by Aleksey Misyurov and mixed and mastered by Vladimir Lehtinen at Blastbear Sound.

Mindscar, the three-piece from Orlando, Florida originally formed by Richie Brown (vocals/guitar) and Mike Radford (drums) in 1998. In 2002, Matt Heafy of Trivium joined the band on guitar and back-up vocals but after internal issues due to the age of their band members Mindscar was unable to tour and the band disbanded for almost ten years.

In February 2016, Mindscar recorded their sophomore full-length album titled 'What's Beyond The Light' with Rob Caldwell (Six Feet Under/Cannabis Corpse/Iron Reagan). The album also features a guest speech from US Senate candidate Augustus Invictus. The cover artwork is a large painting made entirely of vocalist/guitarist Richie Brown's blood and semen. 'What's Beyond The Light' is out now and here it is.

Greek progressive Metallers Need have released a lyric video for 'Alltribe', the third single from their fourth album 'Hegaiamas: A Song For Freedom', which is due for release on January 17th 2017. Musicwise the song explores new soundscapes for Need, something that's always the band's purpose when writing new material, while lyricwise it's a journey for freedom through the exploration of one's self. The video was made by by Haris Kountouris and HK Visual Creations and can be viewed here.

Depth Hate have released a new video for 'Soon The Eternity' and said the following about it: "For some people the Christmas season contains a load of melancholy, and this can be extremely dangerous. Brazilian Heavy Metal band Depth Hate bring a warning about the situation Which can sometimes be imperceptible."

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Hatriot have released the lyric video for a new demo song called 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'. The track, which is one of the band's first to be recorded without Exodus singer Steve 'Zetro' Souza, will be re-recorded for the band's upcoming album, tentatively due late next year.

The band commented: "The video was done by Mike Sloat, recordings by Abel Torres, and image by Kevin Paterson. The lyrics are metaphorically driven for heinous people on death row like pedophiles, serial killers, and other monsters of that sort. In the song, the mid-to-high-level shrieking are the villagers hunting the monster and the low death Metal growls are the point of view of the monster.
