10th March 2017

Edition thirty seven of Cum On Feel The Newz.

Apparently William Shakespeare wrote thirty seven plays. We tried to have a discussion in the office about which was the most Metal of these, but no-one could agreee so it descended into topical insult trading. At one point "Thou errant flap-mouthed coxcomb" was countered with "Thou goatish beef-witted joithead".

Let's do this...

Earth Electric
The Cruel Knives
Nest Of Vipers
Edge Of Paradise
Avatar
DED
Foscor
Devilskin
WinterStorm
Cirrha Niva

Scotland's newest Rock festival, WinterStorm, has confirmed the first batch of bands booked to appear at this year's event held in the seaside town of Troon from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th November.

First up are New York hard rockers Tyketto in an exclusive Scottish date. Front man Danny Vaughn undoubtedly has one of he finest voices in rock and the band will be playing tracks from their back catalogue as well as their magnificent 2016 release, 'Reach'. Joining them will be two bands who played last year's inaugural event – Praying Mantis and Tygers of Pan Tang. Both bands unfortunately had their sets shortened due to external circumstances last year and they were promised a return visit to complete unfinished business.

Both bands played the Reading Festival back in the day and they were at the forefront of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), as was guitar legend Bernie Torme, who along with his new band is also making an appearance at WinterStorm this year.

Last year's WinterStorm played host to a number of up and coming signed and unsigned acts, and leading the charge this year are Mason Hill, who recently played their first ever headline gig in Glasgow to a sell out audience. WinterStorm are also delighted to welcome three superb young bands up the M74 for their debut appearances at the festival – Lancashire noise monsters Massive Wagons, Wigan based Bigfoot and from Walsall Stone Broken - all "must see" up and coming acts, who have shared stages with some of the biggest names in rock music.

Further announcements will be made in due course, but in the meantime, a number of accommodation packages are available right now from the official WinterStorm website.

Avatar of Sweden have released a statement on the recent discovery of Trappist-1, also designated as 2MASS J23062928-0502285. The band plans to visit the newly named solar system immediately.

"The 'New Land' mission will focus primarily on finding life and sustainable living conditions," says His Royal Majesty King Kungen. "Secondly we will look for harvestable resources such as various types of metal, lead, copper, zinc, thrash, death... that sort of thing. How do I turn this off? I'm thirsty! Where is my mead? And where are your pants? Wait, is this thing still recording?!"

As of today, it has been reported that the dwarf star has been shown to host seven terrestrial planets, a larger number than detected in any other planetary system. "The mission will be aired live on Avatar Country state television, KTV (Kungliga Television). For people abroad, unable to watch the event as it is happening, a summary can be seen on AvatarVEVO today. Glory to Avatar Country! Glory to our King!"

Check out their journey to the 'New Land' below. Upon mission completion, Avatar will return to earth to embark on a North American tour supporting In This Moment and Motionless In White on the aptly named 'Half God Half Devil' Tour. Afterwards the band will make appearances at a number of highly coveted hard rock festivals in Europe this summer.

Earth Electric are now streaming the second track taken from their debut album 'Vol.1: Solar', which will hit the streets on May 12th.

The Norwegian-Portuguese rockers lead by mastermind guitarist Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (ex-Mayhem, ex-Ava Inferi, Aura Noir) are exclusively revealing 'Mountains & Conquerors'

Mastermind Rune Eriksen told us: "The opening track of the album...short, sweet, and straight to the point. Together with the title song, this is one of the oldest ideas for the album. A strong mix of wild energy and positive thinking. For every mountain climbed, there is a reward..."

On April 28th, Norwegian symphonic black Metal giants, Dimmu Borgir, will unleash their highly anticipated double-DVD/BluRay 'Forces Of The Northern Night' upon mankind.

On this brand new release you can witness two different live shows: The legendary concert in Oslo, showing the band on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, as well as the entire performance at Wacken Open Air with almost 100 musicians in action. These monumental live rituals mark the beginning of the band's epic return planned for 2017.

Watch the first trailer for 'Forces Of The Northern Night' here and take a look behind the scenes of this ambitious orchestra production:

Sid Glover and Rob Ellershaw of Heaven's Basement, together with Tom Harris and Al Junior, have formed a new band: The Cruel Knives.

Their debut single 'The World We Were Sold' is available now. Having recently completed a sold out tour of the UK & Europe with The Pretty Reckless they are now planning a headline tour to be announced soon.

The Cruel Knives are currently running a crowd funding campaign to record their debut EP offering all kinds of limited edition and one of a kind items which you can check out here.

Edinburgh based Nest of Vipers have been quiet so far this year, but they're about to burst back into the limelight with the announcement of a new line up and a clutch of gigs. Powerhouse vocalist Hannah Jones and drummer Alan Chetcuti remain, while Edward Van Bart moves from bass guitar to rhythm guitar and new man André Spiteri fills in on bass guitar. Another new face, Guillermo Álvarez Rico, joins on guitar.

Having had a successful 2016 that saw them play a host of shows in Central Scotland, the band are moving forwards with the line up and have already pencilled in shows in Dumfries and Edinburgh to kickstart the band back into action. The Dumfries show is part of the 'Magnificent Seven' strand of events with this year's event dubbed 'The Return of The Most Magnificent Seven', and features a host of well known acts including Memoreve, Ammonium, Rain May Fall, Turbyne, Rusted Hero, Hellion Rising, Die No More and Ramage Inc.

This show will be held at The Venue in Dumfries on Saturday 15th April. The second live appearance announced is a hometown show at Bannerman's in Edinburgh on Saturday 13th May, with entry from 8pm for the princely sum of £5. Support on the night comes from A Ritual Spirit, Turbyne and Rain May Fall. Tickets are available for both events are available from the usual agents now.

Extreme Metal giants Arch Enemy have now launched a live video for 'Nemesis', filmed at Wacken 2016 and taken from their upcoming live DVD/Blu-ray 'As The Stages Burn!' which will be released on March 31st 2017

The live collection is now available for pre-order as Ltd. Deluxe CD+DVD+Blu-ray Box Set, Special Edition CD+DVD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP+DVD and as digital album.

The full Wacken 2016 show was recorded with 13 cameras, produced and directed by Patric Ullaeus. The audio was mixed by Andy Sneap.

Edge Of Paradise return with 'Alive', taken from the new EP of the same name released today, Friday 10th March via ILS/Universal. The 5 song EP is produced by Chuck Johnson and mixed by Jay Ruston, Mike Plotnikoff and Michael Wagener.

The band's frontwoman, Margarita Monet told us, "This song is extremely contagious, with the heavy hitting/industrial beat, and a chorus that'll get your blood pumping! 'Alive' is dealing with us humans being so caught up in the digital world, obsessed with convenience and monetary gain, we have begun to sacrifice our humanity. We are becoming corporate led consumer machines, we get lost in the enticing virtual reality that we forget what real human interaction feels like.

"Sometimes I want to break away from bombardment of advertisements, social standards, never ending race with time and just breathe, and remember what it's like to feel alive. To connect with our fellow humans and the world. Production wise, the band is exploring its heavier side, with the new industrial edge, yet keeping the band's dynamic and melodic sound. This is our best music to date and we were so fortunate to work with amazing, powerhouse people on this CD, and are confident that the outcome is the most exciting Edge of Paradise musical experience yet!"

This year the band plan to tour US, South America and Europe with an already set date at the Female Metal Event in Eindhoven, Netherlands, September 23rd, playing alongside Delain.

Little Hurricane are proud to unveil their stunning and brilliantly shot video for 'OTL', taken from their upcoming new album 'Same Sun Same Moon', out April 14th via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group.

'OTL' is a love song woven from understated keyboards and intertwined vocals. Married in summer 2016, the creative partners elected to openly share their happiness with listeners for the first time. Speaking about the track CC says: "OTL is a song that is particularly meaningful to us and we wanted a video to capture the intensity we felt when we wrote the song.

"We thought it was important to juxtapose the intimate lyrics with darker imagery. I had this concept of "love at the end of the world," where things are falling apart all around us, but we still find these moments of joy in the travesty. This was our second time working with Jordan Albertsen, and we felt he was able to translate our idea into a story line that is both heartfelt and tragic all at once."

Little Hurricane tour Europe in April and May, with a date at The Borderline, London on 2nd May.

Dutch progressive Metal band Cirrha Niva have unveiled a new track 'Afraid To Bleed' featuring Lisette van den Berg (Scarlet Stories, Ayreon) on guest vocals. The song is taken from their well-received album 'Out of the Freakshow'.

Vocalist Legrand told us about the theme of the song: "If you're Afraid to Bleed for whatever thoughts you might have that's not according to or differs from whatever you were made to believe. Act like you're told to, and be as the ones before you. Don't question or doubt, just do as your told. Or they will cut you down."

Guitarist Rob Willemse added: "For this up-tempo rocksong we had a clear ending in mind. We aimed for a vocalpart in the sphere of Pink Floyd's 'The Great Gig In The Sky' or Ennio Morricone's 'Once Upon A Time In The West'. And with Lisette van den Berg's voice, input, creativity and emotion we got what we wished for."

Foscor are now premiering the first track taken from their forthcoming fifth full-length. 'Les Irreals Visions' which is slated for release on June 9th.

The Catalan melancholy Metal experts are now streaming the song "Ciutat Tràgica" featuring Alan A. Nemtheanga from Primordial and you can check it out below.

Regarding the song premiere, the band told us: "Our premiere song 'Ciutat Tràgica' translates as 'tragic city' and it was admittedly also our original choice for the new album's opening track and title. In terms of lyrics, this record maps the collective interactions, weaknesses, and individual hopes of human beings in a city as a metaphor - amplifying the myths that we face."

Devilskin follow a hugely successful joint headline tour accompanying their friends Halestorm and Disturbed, with the announcement of a 10 date UK co-headline tour alongside Sumo Cyco in March.

The band will tour their explosive live set throughout the UK, starting on March 14th in Manchester, including the Underworld in London on Wednesday 22nd. To celebrate the tour, Devilskin's second studio album 'Be Like The River', is officially released in the UK on March 17th and the band unveil a new video shot in front of 10,000 fans for the single 'Voices'.

Devilskin told us: "We are really excited to be returning to the UK for some killer shows with our new friends Sumo Cyco! The response from our UK friends has been overwhelming and we can't wait to unleash the new tunes live. The audience are in for a really special evening of high octane rock, Sumo Cyco bring the party, we are beyond amped for these shows. Bring it on!"

Motionless In White have unveiled a new video for 'Loud (Fuck It)' taken from their forthcoming album, 'Graveyard Shift', set for release via Roadrunner Records on 5th May.

The album is available to pre-order from today with all pre-orders receiving instant downloads of 'Loud (Fuck It)', plus the previously released album tracks, '570' and 'Eternally Yours'.

The album also features a guest appearance from Korn's frontman, Jonathan Davis, who lends his vocals to 'Necessary Evil'. The band are set to spend the summer on both the US and European summer festival circuit, including a slot at the UK's Download Festival at Donington Park on Friday 9th June.

Rising Rockers DED have released a video for 'Anti-Everything' directed by Limp Bizkit frontman and filmmaker Fred Durst.

Throughout the video, various techniques were used to obscure the band's identity and give it a mysterious and foreboding look: blurred focus, flipping the negative on the performance, shooting the members in dim light or shrouding them in smoke.

DED's Joe Cotela told us: "We focused on capturing our live vibe and being free to be whoever we really are during a performance. Coupled with our passion for horror films, we wanted something eye grabbing and strange but not necessarily gore-filled. Our favorite aspect of horror is the psychological part, the part that actually truly affects you. The song is all about individuality and being unique and I think the video really expresses that with how distinctive it looks."

Liverpool based experimental rock/metal collective of five, Loathe are delighted to announce that they will be playing at the Hellfest Official UK Party. The event will take place on 11th May in London at the New Cross Inn.

"If you can't come to Hellfest, Hellfest will come to you!" The event will be a night of 100% Metal, rock and fun; with bands, DJs, special guests, meet & greets, ticket give-aways and free merch.

Loathe recently announce the release of their debut record 'The Cold Sun', released via SharpTone Records on April 14th.

One of the godfather bands of Brazilian Metal, MEetalmorphose have released their new music video 'A Cobra Fumou' in tribute to the fighters of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB – Força Expedicionária Brasileira) who fought in the Battle of Monte Castello during World War II.

Their tribute video features real clips provided by the Brazilian Army from the battle. The video was put together by Carlos Galvão (RJ) and Savi Giessevideo & Peter Lanz (Italy) plus edited by Justo Lyra.

Metalmorphose recently released their eleventh record 'Ação & Reação'.
