7th July 2017

Edition fifty four of Cum On Feel The Newz.

Studio 54, the world-famous nightclub renowned for excess, catered mainly for the disco scene and mainstream celebrities - but in 1985 thrash merchants Slayer, Venom and Exodus filmed the 'Ultimate Revenge For Disco' video there. Turns out this "death to disco" premise was all a bit of a lark really, which is a relief as some of us round here are quite partial to a bit of Boney M at times.

Let's do this...

Go Ask Alice
Counterfeit Culture
Hell's Addiction
Chris McConville
Wayward Sons
Gun
Betraying The Martyrs
The Pineapple Thief
RPWL
Enslaved
Belphegor
Eluveitie
Orden Ogan
Edenthorn
Mason Hill
Neon Animal

Eight years after melodic death/folk Metal masters Eluveitie released their acoustic album 'Evocation I', the Swiss musicians have stored their electronic instruments again in the rehearsal room. 'Evocation II - Pantheon' will be released August 18th via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, they finally release the music video for 'Epona'. It was shot in and around the city of Avenches, in the south west of Switzerland. This city is, especially for Eluveitie, very rich in history as it was once called Aventicum, the capital of the Celtic Tigurini (who were part of the Helvetii tribe) and therefore also the home of one of the most iridescent characters of Celtic history: The mighty sovereign Divico who was brave enough to conquer the Roman emperor Gaius Julius Cäesar. His actions often appear in songs from the band.

The clip was produced by Jason Sereftug-Borruso (Writer, Director) and Alexis Gudinchet (Assistant Director). Front man Chrigel Glanzmann told us: "The song is an ode to the riding goddess queen of the Celtic pantheon! And this not only lyrically. Also musically, for even though 'Epona' is an acoustic track, the song surges ahead with verve, power and speed and dashes like a galloping horse! It is a good song to give you a first glimpse of the raw, wild, honest, very folky and thoroughly Celtic character of 'Evocation II - Pantheon'!"

Frontiers Records are delighted to present the debut music video from new signings Glasgow based Mason Hill, a band who've been making serious waves around the UK in the past year.

From appearing at Ramblin' Man, winning the UK's Highway To Hell battle of the bands competition, appearing at Hard Rock Hell and Winter Storm, selling out the famous Cathouse Rock Club in Glasgow (with a month to go, a feat only achieved by Black Stone Cherry and Anthrax in recent years), blockbuster supports with Inglorious and Airbourne, to a blistering appearance on the Boardie Takeover Stage at Download.

Check out why Mason Hill's superb catchy modern-meets-classic rock anthems, stadium friendly ballads and high energy live shows are turning heads left, right and centre. ‘Now You See Me' is taken from the debut EP ‘Mason Hill', and the video was directed by James Mackenzie. Their debut full length album is due in 2018 on Frontiers Records.

In the meantime, you can catch the band here: Sanctuary Rock Bar, Burnley (21st July), Heywood Biker Rally, Heywood (22nd July), G2 @ The Garage, Glasgow (5the August), Stramash Festival, Stornoway (12th August), Hair Metal Heaven, Hull (25th August), Bridgnorth Festival, Bridgenorth (26th August), Rockwich 2017, Northwich (27th August), Winter Storm, Troon (25th November), The Barrowlands (with GUN), Glasgow (2nd December), Planet Rockstock, Trecco Bay (3rd December), The Underworld, London (16th December) and Fuel, Cardiff (17th December).

German art rock titans RPWL have made ‘Misguided Thought' from their upcoming live concert film extravaganza ‘A New Dawn' available. The concept albums ‘Wanted' (2014) and its predecessor ‘Beyond Man And Time' (2012) are widely recognised as career highlights from the band who celebrate two decades together in 2017 with the release of the long-awaited concert movie.

Documenting the last stop on a tour in support of ‘Wanted' that saw the talented core quintet make a triumphant appearance in their hometown of Freising, Bavaria on 31st October 2015 for an elaborate show comprising not only a rock concert, but also a play and multimedia event. The one-off production involved 50 actors and extras and is presented on this multi-format title.

‘A New Dawn' is released on BluRay and DVD, with the audio also on 2xCD and 3xLP. An additional lavish Limited Collector's Box adds the script of the performance, a poster and a ‘Veritas Forte' pill from the show to all the aforementioned formats. The BluRay is presented in Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Wayward Sons are delighted to announce the release of their debut album "Ghosts Of Yet To Come" on the 15th September through Frontiers Music Srl.

A UK guitar act comprising Toby Jepson (Vocals/Guitar), Sam Wood (Guitar), Nic Wastell (Bass), Dave Kemp (Keys) and Phil Martini (Drums), they have an impressive resume of groups they have previously worked with – Little Angels, Gun, Spear Of Destiny, Treason Kings and Chrome Molly to name a few.

The band is set to release four videos to support single releases, and the videos together will make one short film. The first video for debut single 'Until The End' can be seen below.

"Ghosts Of Yet To Come" is a hugely accomplished debut album – as might be expected. From the staccato riffing of 'Give It Away' to the melodic intro of first single 'Until The End', from the hard rock of 'Ghosts' to 4/4 rock of 'Don't Wanna Go', the album sounds familiar yet of its own. Toby Jepson had the basis of songs written when the band formed and together they took these rough ideas and forged their own sound. Lyrically the album sees Jepson treading a far more personal line than some of his previous output.

"I feel I have unfinished business, stories still left to tell, points to make, noise to create, all of the above... besides, it wasn't a choice, more of a need. My intention is very simple. I want to write about what makes me tick; about what I believe in. Hopefully you will believe in it too. It will be warts and all," says Jepson.

Arizona based Go Ask Alice have released the Cody Doyle edited lyric video for ‘Without You', the second single from their upcoming album ‘This Album's About You' - due for release on Friday 28th July via Legend Recordings but available for pre-order right now.

Vocalist Tyler Samuel explained: "We are beyond excited to release our new single 'Without You'! This is a very personal song about struggles with abandonment. The song itself, in particular, is about being abandoned by a parent, but it applies to all versions of that feeling. The hope is that it hits home with a lot of people and is able to reach someone, even if it's just one person and make them realize, it's okay to be not okay with it and you can persevere. We hope you guys enjoy the new track!"

Post-hardcore act Counterfeit Culture has released their second single, ‘Apothecary' featuring Ricky Armellino of This Or The Apocalypse. The new lyric video talk about the purpose of the band's message and the severity of domestic abuse, which is a reoccurring theme in the group's newly announced, debut EP, 'Deathwish', which is set to release August 1st.

"Each of our music videos/songs have a message pertaining to an issue in society, (drug abuse, domestic abuse, etc), and our vision is to be more than just musicians, we want to be activists. The four of us want to help shift focus onto more important issues and prevent further damage to those who are lost or unheard," vocalist Nick Broglio told us.

"This EP has been a very emotional release for us" explained Broglio, adding "The feelings that went into each song have come from experiences in our lives and in the lives of people around us. Our goal is to portray those difficulties that we and others face in an attempt to shed light on real-life issues in society."

On September 15th, Belphegor will unleash their new full-length inferno 'Totenritual', bringing once again their merciless black/death sound into the world. Today, the band unveil a studio trailer showing front man Helmuth Lehner during the recording process of the rhythm guitars for the nine crushing new tracks.

'Totenritual' was recorded at Stage One Studios, Germany and Studio Mischmaschine, Austria. Over three years have passed since the 'Conjuring The Dead' album was released. The new album will be mixed by Jason Suecof and mastering done by Mark Lewis at Audiohammer Studios, Florida.

Belphegor will be playing European festivals throughout the summer, and from September will head out on a European headline tour together with Deströyer666, Enthroned, Nervochaos, and Nordjevel.

Orden Ogan release lyric video for their third single 'Come With Me To The Other Side' (featuring Liv Kristine), taken from new album 'Gunmen' out 7th July.

Front man Seeb Levermann told us: "When we had just finished the intro for 'Come With Me To The Other Side', we immediately felt that it needed a fragile, angelic, female voice to bring it to full bloom and capture the song's atmosphere in a perfect way. Liv was our first choice and were happy that she confirmed right away. When she came to my studio and sang her parts, she even exceeded our expectations."

On October 13th, the band's next headlining tour will kick off – with their sole UK show of the tour at the O2 Islington, London on 7th November. – and it's about to become one of the year's best melodic Metal tours for sure.

The Pineapple Thief release 'Where We Stood', the spectacular final performance of the ‘Your Wilderness' tour on 8th September through Kscope, with digital preorders for several exclusive formats available from 14th July.

Bringing to close an unforgettable 14-date European winter tour of their 2016 summer hit album, The Pineapple Thief, led by post-progressive mastermind Bruce Soord and reinforced by Gavin Harrison (King Crimson) on drums with Darran Charles (Godsticks) on guitar, gave the sold-out Islington Assembly Hall in London a truly awe-inspiring gig on 11th February 2017. 'Where We Stood' showcases a powerful performance from both band regulars and guests on new tracks and previous classics.

Bruce Soord told us about the show and release "It was our last show of the tour and our biggest headline show ever. We had 15 cameras, a massive jib, but more importantly - a sell-out crowd! The pressure was indeed on, but it's safe to say that the stars aligned for us that night and it turned out to be one of the most memorable performances of our career so far.

"We've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this special edition blu-ray. It has the full show; documentary footage and interviews; and 2 different 5.1 surround mixes (one natural, one discrete) - all in high resolution 24/96 stereo. It also has our last album 'Your Wilderness' in stereo and surround, plus the special '8 Years Later' album in stereo with a brand-new surround mix too. All of that plus 5 acoustic tracks (also stereo and surround) and loads of bonus videos. This is without doubt the definitive 'Your Wilderness' release."

Newcastle/Durham based hard rock quartet, Edenthorn, have announced that they have signed a management deal with TMR Band Management and will prepare a new album release for early 2018, a follow up to their well-received debut album ‘The Maze'.

Edenthorn are a rare breed in that they are made up of not one but two sets of siblings, with vocalist Kyle Tague and drummer Mark being brothers; while guitarist, Dylan Gardner and bassist, Faiba Gabrielle are brother and sister. If you then add the fact that Kyle and Faiba are partners, it takes that traditional "we are a close-knit band" adage to a whole new level. That family bond bleeds through into the music they produce where they create a unique blend of EPIC choruses, HUGE rock riffs and outstanding harmonies.

Vocalist Kyle Tague commented: "We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved to date and thrilled with how well The Maze was received. We could probably repeat all that; keeping it all in-house but we want to step it up, to challenge ourselves to push on and we are pretty sure that Peter at TMR Band Management can help us grow beyond our comfort-zone. We can't wait to see what we can achieve with our next release."

Of the signing, TMR boss Peter Keevil explained "Quite literally, this is more than a band, they are a rock family and this gives them an extra dynamic, right across everything they do – through the song writing, the stage chemistry, the drive they have to push each other on and succeed. I'm excited to see what I can add to that."

Hell's Addiction have released a very special lyric video for their latest single ‘Holiday'. The five-piece balls-out hard rock band from Leicester UK, are described as the bastard child of an illicit three-way between Skid Row, early-Guns N' Roses and AC/DC, and musically the new single typifies that description.

The band have a softer side, though, and that's demonstrated in the new video which features holiday snaps and family memories submitted by fans of the band. Frontman, Ben Sargent told us:

"These are tough and uncertain times but rock music has a role to play in helping us heal and bring us together and hopefully in our own small way we can contribute to that. Liam (Sargent, guitarist) is my actual brother but the rest of the guys are blood brothers that exist solely to perform live and rock an audience to its bones, making us and the audience one big rock n roll family. I believe it's a real connection. We hope this video expresses that connection to the backdrop of a fucking great song!!"

Hell's Addiction are heading out in the road with dates including Melfest3 @ Trillians Rock Bar, Newcastle (8th July), Manchester Rock & Bike Festival, Warrington (18th August), Rockwich Festival, Northwich (27th August), Redemption Festival @ Warehouse 23, Wakefield (16th September), Dollsfest 4 @ The Dolls House, Abertillery (30th September), The Wheatsheaf, Oxford (11th November) and Rock N Roll Circus Xmas Bash @ The Dolls House Abertillery (9th December).

Gun are to release their seventh studio album, 'Favourite Pleasures', on September 15th. The record was made in the band's own Morse Code studios in Paisley.

We featured the audio track of the first release and title track on MetalTalk last month right here along with lots of information about the forthcoming release and now you can check out the actual video for 'Favourite Pleasurs' right here.

Frontman Dante Gizzi said of the song:

"The title was inspired by a friend of ours who was into S&M, big time, and it was a side of him that not many people knew about. He'd go on tour working with us, and whatever his weekly per diem was, it would be spent in a day on hookers and sex shows the moment we hit Amsterdam and Hamburg and all those places. Those were his favourite pleasures... mine are a lot different from that."

Hailing originally from Scotland but now London-based, drummer, solo artist and singer/songwriter Chris McConville (Blackhill Pioneers/The Bishops) has launched a charity single, ‘Try Another Day' in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Scotland.

McConville's dad, John McConville was diagnosed with the disease in December 2015 and has been living with it for a couple of years now. MND is a rapidly-progressing terminal illness which stops signals from the brain reaching the muscles, which can cause the loss of the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe unaided.

Just released on iTunes (and everywhere else), Chris has set up a JustGiving page with a target of £1000.

Written and sung by John McConvile, the track was produced by Chris who also helps out on additional lead vocals. Making it something of a family affair, Chris' brother Justin (The Heavy Metal Kids/Uncle Rust) also helps out on bass and rhythm guitars, the guitar solo and some backing vocals.

France's Betraying The Martyrs have revealed a live video for latest single ‘The Resilient'. Showcasing their epic performance on the Hellfest Main Stage as well as some behind the scenes snippets, the video will serve to tide European fans over until their return later in the year.

The band checked with us from their US tour to say: "We are extremely proud to present our live music video for the title track of our new album 'The Resilient'. Filmed at the notorious French festival Hellfest, in front of over 30,000 people, this concert represents a huge milestone for us as a French band and we absolutely wanted to share the experience with our fans!

"The Resilient is a product of everything we have worked for since day one, this is who we are and what we love to do, this one is a thank you to all who have stood by us over the years. We're stoked to be back at it smashing stages all summer in the United States with Born Of Osiris, followed by the Summer Slaughter tour. Of course we'll be back in Europe before the end of the year to be sure we can play for as many of you as possible!"

It is accomplished - the Norwegian Progressive Black avantgardists Enslaved have completed the recording process of their 14th full-length masterpiece, and in the renowned Fascination Street Studios, Jens Bogren has polished this new raw diamond with his mixing and mastering skills.

Just like for their predecessor 'In Times', which stormed the rankings of the biggest European magazines, the Metal veterans from Bergen still never look back and keep on expanding their horizons. And this spring they created a spectacular sound chimera of experimental prog filled with majestic melodies, epic sound landscapes and stirring black Metal moments - all united in a grand storm that will reach us this autumn.

"I'm always psyched and proud when we finish an album recording, and this is no exception!" states singer Grutle Kjellson. "It was a really exciting process this time, with the line-up change and everything, so although it wasn't a dramatic change, the band dynamics were suddenly different. But, it was like a little re-boot, a fresh start so to speak. The studio sessions were great, and we all feel that we have done something truly amazing. We hope you'll enjoy it. Ugh!"

Born in vivid London, offsprings of the long lasting collaboration of multifaceted musical talents, Neon Animal recorded their debut album 'Bring Back Rock 'n' Roll From The Dead' in the age-old yet emerging World Heritage city of Porto. As an outcome, the band's premiere nods its head to glorious past of rock 'n' roll while firmly grounded in the present and stepping its foot into the future.

After having toured around Europe, established themselves in London's emerging music scene, returned from a thirteen shows tour in France and a performance at this years edition of Camden Rocks Festival, the band performed to a full house at the album launch party at The Black Heart in Camden Town, London on June 7th.

The first single, the album's title is out Neon Animal have several gigs booked for the autumn in the UK, a presence at the Punk Rock Rendez Vous Festival in London, and are scheduled to perform at the Laurus Nobilis Music Festival in Portugal this summer. More dates will be added to the scheduled tour shortly.
