29th September 2017

Edition sixty four of Cum On Feel The Newz.

There are sixty-four hexagrams in the I Ching and also sixty-four sexual positions in the Kama Sutra. We're not convinced the two go together so we will focus on what's in store for the week ahead via the I Ching only. It's Hexagram 40 - 'Release'. If your path has no real destination, turn back; if it has purpose, start your journey as early as you can.

Let's do this...

Tulsadoom
Cheap Trick
Testament
Shining
Nikki Stringfield
The King Is Blind
The Bloody Beetroots
Supersonic Blues Machine
Orange Goblin
Galactic Cowboys
5 Star Grave
Electric Wizard
Kadaver
Beth Hart
10 Years
Broken Witt Rebels

Supersonic Blues Machine will be releasing their brand new album 'Californisoul' on 20 October via Provogue/Mascot Label Group and like its predecessor features an array of stellar guests including Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Steve Lukather (Toto), Eric Gales, Robben Ford and Walter Trout. Brand new track 'Elevate' is now unveiled for your listening pleasure.

Producer and bassist Fabrizio Grossi talks about a soundtrack for an imaginary road trip up the California coastline in the heady, halcyon days of the early 70s, and really captures the vibe and mojo. This machine covers a lot of ground. As the ever tighter core of Lance Lopez, Grossi, and Kenny Aronoff comes together with the elite of the modern day blues rock community, this is much closer to Woodstock and Watkins Glen than it is to a cut and paste A-list vanity session. This is about friendship, the brotherhood of the blues, and bringing the blues up to this moment in time.

Grossi adds, "Lots of people have been saying to me 'why does Supersonic Blues Machine always bring guests around? You guys can stand your own ground', and there are three answers to that : 1) we're all super friends and we're having a blast, 2) most of them don't give lessons and for us it's only way to learn their secret "ways", and three because the inspiration and the challenge they bring to the table!"

Cheap Trick will rock in the Yuletide season with the release of their first holiday themed album 'Christmas Christmas', out October 20th on Big Machine Records.

Arriving mere months after their critically acclaimed 18th studio album 'We're All Alright!', Cheap Trick co-produced the holiday collection alongside their longtime collaborator, Grammy Award winner Julian Raymond.

With 'Christmas Christmas' Cheap Trick deliver a sleigh-full of Rock & Roll Christmas classics and festive favourites as well as newly penned offerings like the joyous lead track, 'Merry Christmas Darlings'.

Berlin based rock overlords Kadaver have released their eagerly awaited fourth studio album 'Rough Times' today. In celebration of the release, the band has unleashed the official music video for the brand new track 'Tribulation Nation'.

Guitarist and singer Lupus spoke about the video and new album: "The album is finally out and we're really happy. Last week, we quickly recorded a video for 'Tribulation Nation' in the studio. I think this song underlines how complex our new record is. Thanks to everyone for the support."

Catch Kadaver live on 30th September at The Dome, London and on 1st October HRH Doom vs Stoner in Sheffield.

Having sold out her biggest UK concert at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Beth Hart and her band will embark on a 14-date UK & Irish tour in April and May 2018.

The tour will start at Dublin's Vicar Street on Tuesday 10th April 2018 culminating in the sold out concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on Friday 4th May.

Prior to this there are limited tickets remaining for Beth's three solo UK shows at Leeds Town Hall on Monday 30th October 2017, Bath Forum on Wednesday 1st November 2017, and Coventry Cathedral on Friday 3rd November 2017.

Snakefarm Records continues to grow its roster having signed Broken Witt Rebels from Birmingham, UK, with a 10-track collection of the best of their output to date confirmed for a November 24th release.

A heady blend of blues, soul, wailing rock guitar and deeply emotive vocals, Broken Witt Rebels have been busy building their profile via a trio of EPs plus a touring schedule that has seen the award-winning quartet switching between headline shows and high-profile guest appearances, sharing stages with Joanne Shaw Taylor, Kaleo, Whiskey Myers and more, the latter in both the UK and US.

The band told us: "Our album has been a long time coming. It's a culmination of the past two years of hard work and we couldn't be prouder of what it's become. We've crafted the record to take the listener along our journey so far, and it also marks a milestone in our career as we move from the unsigned world to being with a label. We're very proud to have signed a deal with Snakefarm Records, and with the Snakefarm team behind us we can't wait to take things to the next level."

10 Years have unveiled the first official video from their upcoming release and eighth studio album return '(how to live) AS GHOSTS'.

Talking about the first single 'Novacaine' Jesse Hasek offers, "Six albums and a hundred songs in, I wondered if I've already written my best stuff. But at some point, you start to get real adult problems. Life has such a numbing to it. You see people go from such optimism in their 20s to having life just beat them down later. I think we all kind of get desensitised and numb to life on some level. That's what this song is about."

The result is 10 Years' most dynamic and multi-dimensional record to date. Raskulinecz encouraged the band to strip away some of the vocal production they've grown accustomed to in order to reveal a more intimate side of Hasek.

Reformed progressive Metal adventurers Galactic Cowboys are excited to reveal the first track from 'Long Way Back To The Moon', their first album fro twenty years released on November 17th via Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group.

'Internal Masquerade', the album's first single, examines the turmoil endemic to the human experience and the difficulties in keeping self-generated darkness at bay, themes which are revisited on the album.

The reformed Cowboys consist of all the original members: lead vocalist Ben Huggins, drummer/vocalist Alan Doss, guitarist/vocalist Dane Sonnier, and vocalist/bassist Monty Colvin. They descended upon Doss's studio in Houston, Texas, through early 2016 to write and record:

"Sherman, set the Wayback Machine to 1993. The vacuum tubes warmed up and once again, Galactic Cowboys were off on a new mission. There's nothing like coming home."

Austria's blackened thrash Metallers Tulsadoom have published a brand new video for the track 'Fist from the Grave', which is taken from the band's upcoming split with fellow countrymen Hellrazors.

'Helltulsarazordoom' is the first split in the history of Cursed Records and is scheduled to be released on October 17^th in analogue formats only (MC & LP).

Los Angeles-based guitarist Nikki Stringfield (The Iron Maidens, Femme Fatale) released a video for her new single 'Save Our Souls'.

The song is in the vein of Evanesence and Avenged Sevenfold and it follows Nikki's debut single, 'As Chaos Consumes'.

Check out the video right here:

The brand new video for the song 'Eat You Alive' from horror Metallers 5 Star Grave can be seen now.

The song is the second single taken from the brand new album 'The Red Room', released 26th of September via Sliptrick Records worldwide.

5 Star Grave (featuring Claudio Ravinale from the melodic death Metal act Disarmonia Mundi on vocals) have been active for more than a decade combining harsh vocals with extremely melodic catchy tunes, heavily inspired by a quite distinctive 80s Metal vibe.

Bay Area thrash giants Testament have announced that they will be re-releasing five of their classic albums on November 17th 2017 via Nuclear Blast.

These are 'Live At The Fillmore' (1995), 'Demonic' (1997), 'The Gathering' (1999) - remastered by Andy Sneap, 'First Strike Still Deadly' (2001) and 'Live At Eindhoven '87' (2009).

The re-issues will come with associated merchandise, feature stunning new artwork by Marcello Vasco (Slayer, Kreator, Hatebreed), and released both as digipak CD and on black vinyl. 'Demonic', 'The Gathering' and 'First Strike Still Deadly' are also being released on silver vinyl.

Having revealed a brand new song, titled, 'Everything Dies' in the wake of their recent tour, which included dates in both London and York, Blackjazz trail-blazers Shining have now released an accompanying lyric video.

Shining's current studio album, 'International Blackjazz Society', is available now through Spinefarm Records. A new record, expected to be released in spring time next year, is currently in the works.

UK cult legends Electric Wizard have released the video for the new song 'See You in Hell,' which singer/guitarist Jus Osborn called '"the most brutally simple and Neanderthal song ever."

The song appears on Wizard Bloody Wizard, the long-anticipated ninth studio album, which is full of cranium-crushing bludgeon rock — like the band's beloved vintage horror/exploitation movies, definitely not for those of a nervous disposition.

'Wizard Bloody Wizard' arrives via Witchfinder/Spinefarm on November 10. T-shirt, pin, poster, patch and cassette bundles are available for order.

Call them Apocalyptic post-Grind, call them Monolithic Metal or just call them fucking HEAVY, The King Is Blind present 'Embers From A Dying Son (Plague: Gula)' from their upcoming album 'We Are The Parasite, We Are The Cancer' (Calva Records), released on 13th October 2017.

Vocals & Lyricist Stephen John Tovey told us: "The song is as relentless as mankind's ravenous gorging of our natural resources.

"The music is trademark The King Is Blind yet showcases the development of our sound on our second album, 'We Are The Parasite, We Are The Cancer'… a focused outpouring of frustration; a violent mix of heavy styles designed to hurtle you along, as if swept up in a chaotic river rapids, smashing you against rocks, and take you on a bruising and violent journey, and is equally as savage as mankind's neanderthal behaviour.

The Bloody Beetroots just announced the release of new album 'The Great Electronic Swindle', out on October 20th via Last Gang Records.

The album features great collaborations with Perry Farrell, Gallows, Maskarade, Anders Friden (In Flames), Jay Buchanan (Rival Sons), Deal Vally, Greta Svabo Bech and more.

The Bloody Beetroots is the moniker of artist, producer and mastermind Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo who celebrates his 10-year anniversary in 2017. Born in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy, Rifo was inspired by a lifelong love of comic books and punk rock, which comprise the visceral kick of the sound. Unleashing his first recordings in 2007, The Bloody Beetroots has been featured in commercials, TV shows and video games.

It only takes an hour to fly to Hamburg from London and we've had longer journeys than that within the capital and they were certainly more expensive than the £33 air ticket that just appeared in our 'flights to Wacken Winter Nights' search.

wacken

Wacken Winter Nights is organised by the same team who are responsible for the world's greatest Metal festival, Wacken-Open-Air and the 2018 bill includes Skyclad, Orphaned Land, Elvenking, Finntroll, Grave Digger, Aeverium, Comes Vagantes, Coppelius, Corvus Corax, Die Pressgëng, Elvellon, Heimataerde, Hell-O-Matic, Ignis Fatuu, Ingrimm, Irdorath, Johnny Deathshadow, Krayenzeit, Letzte Instanz, Mr Hurley und die Pulveraffen, Pampatut, Pat Razket, Schandmaul, Sündenrausch, The Aberlour's, The Moon And The Nightspirit, Torfrock, Visions Of Atlantis, Vroudenspil, Wind Rose and more.

Besides this rich billing of superb Metal bands, there is so much more to see in the festival area including the medieval market and also the walking acts and jugglers you will meet at the theme worlds, including Robert Blake, three-time World Cup winner of street magic.

Wacken Winter Nights is something not to be missed and you can check out the amazing ticket and accommodation prices right here.

We just priced up the whole four day trip with hotels, flights, shuttles and festival tickets for less than £300 and we don't think you will get a better value festival than that, anywhere.

wacken

MetalTalk recently sat down with Wacken founder and owner Thomas Jensen and that interview will be online next week and it's a fascinating insight into how Wacken originated from nothing to become the world's premiere Heavy Metal event.

wacken

Wacken 2018 takes place from 2nd to 4th August 20218 and as with Wacken Winter Nights, if you have never experienced all it has to offer, then you owe it to yourself to remedy that.

Already announced for Wacken 2018 are Judas Priest, Nightwish, Running Wild (exclusive), Arch Enemy, Dirkschneider, Doro (Special Anniversary Show), In Extremo, Sepultura, Amorphis, Amaranthe, Firewind, W.A.R., Belphegor, Mantar, Knorkator, Deserted Fear, Watain, Night Demon, Epica, Knorkator, Belphegor, Firewind, Deserted Fear and many more and we'll have more Wacken 2018 announcements during December.

As well as being the greatest Heavy Metal festival in the world, it is without a doubt the Mecca of Metal and the one thing that every single person who loves our music should have on their bucket list.

For 2018, MetalTalk have joined forces with Wacken-Open-Air to help you get to Wacken easily and inexpensively and you can peruse the ticket and travel options right here.
