GURT, EVEREST GREEN, PURPLE KONG AND RAG TO PLAY POST-BLOODSTOCK RETRIBUTION ROAD TRIP
25th July 2017

retribution road trip

The Retribution Alive road trip continues in August as we make our way back to the Underdog Gallery for a special post-Bloodstock breakdown.

We have the sludge/doom of Gurt (Bloodstock 2017), Hertfordshire's progressive sludgers Everest Green (Bloodstock 2017), doom mongers Purple Kong (Bloodstock London Metal 2 The Masses finalists), the debut performance from Rag, featuring two members of Sons Of Merrick (SOM have Dan Edwards at Bloodstock 2017 with Blind River) and the London debut from thrashers Let The Madness Begin featuring ex-Kremated (Bloodstock 2013) man Phil Roberts.

It doesn't stop there. Joining resident DJs 69 (Bloodstock In New Blood We Trust/Club Serpent) and Griffin (Bloodstock Signing Tent/Club Serpent) we have Bloodstock VIP overlord himself DJ Griz. Oh, and Sammy who runs the venue is the drummer of Steak... who are playing Bloodstock VIP this year...

Advance tickets are available right here.

Those non-Retribution members who come to the event with your 2017 Bloodstock armband will get a pound off entry on the door.

The Retribution club night keeps the neighbours awake until 1.00am and so far the diverse Metalisation of Retribution Alive has breached the walls of such venues as the Intrepid Fox, Purple Turtle, 12 Bar, Black Heart, The Lounge, Scala, Unicorn, Nambucca, The Dev, Underdog Gallery, Wig & Gown, New Cross Inn, Fiddlers Elbow, Amwell Arms, Upstairs @ The Garage, Kings Arms and the Plough & Harrow.

Bands playing 7.00pm-11.00pm:

GURT

Gurt take the blues and groove of 70s rock and drag it backwards through the swamps of Louisiana. The drums are thunderous, the vocals demonic and the guitars down-tuned, down-tempo and down-right sexy. This is not doom, this is not sludge, THIS IS GURT.

After forming in January 2010 Gurt have released a string of EPs and splits with such bands as Dopefight and Limb (Witch Hunter Records) and Trippy Wicked.

The band unleashed their debut LP 'Horrendosaurus' through independent label When Planets Collide: Presents on June 9th 2014. The album highlights the band's ferocity and quirkiness in equal measure and is already receiving high praise from critics.

The past few years have seen Gurt tour relentlessly through the UK and Europe supporting Weedeater, Red Fang, Black Tusk, Valient Thorr, Cough, Naam among many others as well as performing to packed out crowds at Bloodstock and Desertfest.

EVEREST QUEEN

Three-piece Metal act from the ominous depths of Hertfordshire. Everest Queen's aim is simple: to take heavy and sludgy riffs through progressive landscapes.

PURPLE KONG

A thundering storm soundbyte that then segues into an even more thunderous heavy doom/sludge groove populated by deeply, and we are talking extremely deeply, distorted bass and titanic drumming over which howling guitar and powerful, cleanly delivered vocals are laid.

RAG

London based noise featuring two members of Sons Of Merrick BUT sounding nothing like them.

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN

Metals addiction to snorting Goth People and Goth music, mixed in with influences of Punk, and AOR all the way across the peroidic table; just add Metal.

MONSTERS OF ROCK IN FULL FLIGHT SURE TO BECOME FUTURE COLLECTOR'S ITEM

monsters of rock

Monsters Of Rock In Full Flight is strictly limited to 300 worldwide and is available from 30th November but those ordering before 31st October will have their name published within a dedicated page in the book.

It's a deluxe 128 page hardback book in a metal flight case with a narrative by Jerry Bloom.

When promoter Paul Loasby put on the first Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1980 he could probably never have imagined it would become an annual event that would endure for so many years.

Featuring bands from the UK, Germany, Canada and USA, Loasby chose to stage the event at the Donington race circuit in the middle of England and it would prove to be a defining moment for many of the bands on the bill.

Not least for headliners Rainbow as it was the their last ever show to feature drum legend Cozy Powell. As it would happen it turned out to be the last for vocalist Graham Bonnet as well. For many of the other bands on the bill such as Scorpions, Judas Priest and Saxon, they were all on the ascendancy and would soon go on to even greater success.

Now in celebration of this first ever Monsters Of Rock Festival comes this hardback book full of glorious photos of the bands that took to the stage for that inaugural event including back stage shots. Most of these shots have not been published before which add to the uniqueness of this deluxe 128-page book which is packaged in its own flight case.

Also included are stories surrounding the event with tales and recollections from those who were there, including artists and fans alike. Each book will be signed by the author. The 300 will sell fast and definitely go on to become collector's items so order yours now right here to avoid disappointment.
