Shyfrin Alliance Premiere Buddha Blues From New Album In The Shadow Of Time

Shyfrin Alliance move into 2025 with the MetalTalk premiere of their striking new single, Buddha Blues. The new song, a soulful country-blues track, shares the message that time is a headline. Buddha Blues is the first song from their new album, In The Shadow of Time.

The enigmatic Eduard Shyfrin, scientist, businessman, and award-winning author turned rock-blues visionary, founded the project Shyfrin Alliance and they released their debut album, Upside Down Blues, last year. This was a deeply personal mix of rock, blues, and balladry steeped in themes of love and antiwar sentiment.

That debut marked Shyfrin’s re-entry into music, years after childhood piano training in Ukraine and a winding path through metallurgy, business, and spiritual exploration.

But if Upside Down Blues was the awakening, In The Shadow of Time is the transcendental voyage. Shyfrin, known for his groundbreaking work exploring Kabbalah within quantum physics, takes listeners on a cerebral and emotional ride through the most elusive subject of all—Time.

“I’ve chosen a very difficult topic: time,” Shyfrin told MetalTalk. “Nobody knows the nature of time. There is no definition. So it was a challenge. I don’t think there exists an album dedicated purely to the topic of time.

“You will not find such an album. Each song is dedicated to the different aspects of time. That is certainly unique.”

Buddha Blues embodies this vision. Driven by laid-back yet infectious guitar licks, gospel-tinged organ and a piano that purrs like a Cadillac engine on cruise control, the song captures time’s role as a healer. It was sparked, oddly enough, by a bout of frustration with modern pop.

Hearing Miley Cyrus’s Flowers too often one summer, Shyfrin set out to pen a more meaningful tune in just two minutes. What emerged was a blues hymn rich in philosophical resolve.

“I told my wife that this is a song that would not stand the test of time,” Shyfrin said. “This season it is popular, the next it’s forgotten. I’m not interested in shallow lyrics. For me, the message, the lyric, is very important. So, I sat down and wrote some lyrics, Buddha Blues, to prove I can do it.”

It’s a nod to Buddhism—not the oversimplified “eliminate desire” trope, but the deeper idea of shedding wrong desires. With this perspective baked into his lyrics, Shyfrin channels the spiritual depth of Kabbalah and fuses it with the raw storytelling power of the Blues.

“I’m still on my horse,” Shyfrin says. “I’m still driving my car, I’m living my life. No worries, no hard feelings.”

Shyfrin Alliance’s music might not fit neatly into typical Heavy Metal, but there is no denying the philosophical weight and purpose behind every riff, lyric and beat.

Like the best of Metal, it is bold, meaningful and refuses to be shallow. As we await In The Shadow Of Time, Buddha Blues sets the tone: thoughtful, resolute, and riding the long road of life with stoic cool.
