The Bloody Nerve / A Haunting Finale To Act III

The Bloody Nerve have released the new song Assassin Of Pain along with a wonderfully atmospheric dystopian-themed video. The track is Episode Nine in the serial release of the concept album All Blood, No Treasure and marks the closure of Act III.

An elegant opening, where the protagonist is hanging around in the film, is beefed up in the second verse, where singer/guitarist/producer Stacey Blood powers in with a guitar sound that fills the ears with the sound of Randy Rhoads Blizzard era.

“Assassin’s pace is emblematic of the production of this record,” singer/guitarist/producer Stacey Blood told MetalTalk. “Up and down, stoic and cathartic.”

The Bloody Nerve is singer/guitarist/producer Stacey Blood and powerhouse vocalist Laurie Ann Layne. Together, the duo have transformed year by year, carefully constructing their digital/analogue junkyard of sound and rock energy and taking it to a new level with each new Act and Episode of All Blood, No Treasure.

“Starting this project out in 2020, we intended for it to move a lot faster,” vocalist Laurie Ann Layne said. “Its tempo changes have been challenging but Episode Nine took a bit to really think through. We’ve accumulated more gear for more sounds. We’re just always raising the stakes with ABNT.”

It has been a slow process, but one that has been rewarding watching from afar. Act III Episode One emerged in March 2023, and MetalTalk did their homework catching up. You can read about the idea behind The Bloody Nerve project here and catch up on some earlier episodes.

“What’s been exciting about this project is that each episode is a bear to start,” Stacey said, “and you think, can we really do all of this again? But somehow, it just all works out.”

With The Bloody Nerve, patience is king, but the quality of their output makes it a very worthwhile experience to keep up with the story. Assassin Of Pain marks the closure of Act III. One that should be a favourite for most, this has been a delight to delve into.

“To be honest, there’s just not another rock album out there like this,” Stacey says. “Nobody is doing anything like it, and it’s felt good to hear stories of people who’ve connected with it on a deep level.”

Stacey is right. Bring on Act IV. The show must go on.
