Those Damn Crows – God Shaped Hole – “A testament to the band’s mastery in crafting high-energy, anthemic music that never fails to thrill audiences.”

Those Damn Crows are not afraid to confront tough topics, boldly addressing themes like self-harm and depression. Frontman Shane Greenhall delivers raw and unfiltered honesty throughout the album, with Still standing out as a deeply personal and powerful piece.

Shane’s candid lyricism strikes a perfect balance—it is heartfelt without feeling like he is oversharing, drawing listeners into the emotional core of the music.

“I don’t know how to write any way other than being completely honest,” Shane says. “Maybe I’m a little too honest and reveal a bit too much of myself. But I think that’s what people connect with.”

The band have already unveiled several explosive singles, including Let’s Go Psycho!, Glass Heart, Still, No Surrender and Dreaming. Each track offers a glimpse into the album’s emotional depth, setting the stage for an exhilarating listening experience.

The record was recorded with the expert guidance of long-time producer Dan Weller. The amazing artwork, created by Alex Tillbrook, embraces a surrealistic approach blending striking visuals with intricate details. It is not just a cover, it is a work of art.

“It is a collection of what’s happened in the timeline of (my) life,” Shane says. “It’s a combination of realities and dimensions. Each item on the album cover visually represents a song on the album and the emotion tied to it. The album landscape is another dimension where the dream world exists, images/songs/emotions are scattered around the vast desert in disarray.

“Is the sinkhole there to destroy, to take away, or is it the path to a new dimension, new reality, new life? I feel that life, the dream state, psychedelics, and technology are all co-existing and blurring the lines while asking the question ‘What is real?'”

Those Damn Crows – Unwavering Creativity

For over a decade, Those Damn Crows have been captivating fans with their relentless energy and unwavering creativity. The UK rockers continue to prove their brilliance with God Shaped Hole, it is an album that blends heart and intellect in equal measure. Intelligent, passionate, and packed with unforgettable singles, it showcases an incredible range and emotional depth.

The opening track, Dancing With The Enemy, sets the tone with its tapping drums and catchy beat as it unfolds into cracking riffs and anthemic sounds. It begs to be sung aloud under the summer sun of UK festivals.

Glass Heart is a stellar slice of pop-rock perfection. Brimming with riffs and hooks, the fast-paced track is undeniably arena-ready. Already released as a single, with an accompanying music video, it serves as yet another honest and vulnerable offering from the band. It reminds us that even with a fragile “glass heart,” like the band, we must push on and persevere.

The third track, Fake, dives headfirst into the darker side of social media and society’s reliance on it, exposing the often ‘fake’ world we create online. Gritty and raw, the song delivers a harder, grimier edge, bolstered by stellar riff work.

Taking a melodic turn, Dreaming opens with a summer surfs up vibe. Having that ‘big song’ feeling, it showcases the band’s range and ability to shift seamlessly between styles.

The midpoint of the album, Let‘s Go Psycho! brings some electrifying chaos. Released as the first single, it dropped just in time to hype the band’s standout performance at Download Festival 2024. This heavier, more frantic track brings a whirlwind of energy. With crashing drums and an intensity that is guaranteed to get you moving, it is, without a doubt, an absolute banger.

No Surrender follows with sheer power, built on a foundation of thunderous riffs and a relentless barrage of drums. The track represents the band’s resilience, serving as an anthem of powering through and never giving up.

Continuing the dynamic journey, The Night Train rolls in with folky styles, slowing the pace of the record and giving you a moment to catch your breath for some easier listening. This track was released this morning as a new single.

The Night Train was written following an extremely powerful and vivid dream where Shane visited his Father and relatives who had passed away. “It really felt like I had travelled somewhere else,” he says, “to a different time/place rather than a dream. It inspired me to write The Night Train – the transport that takes you to your loved ones who are no longer with us.

“The train takes you to their new home where you’re temporarily invited and reunited with your loved ones for a short time, at the same time, every single night like a grieving Groundhog Day. Your destination is one dream away.”

Turn It Around reignites the tempo as the harmony of the lyrics and instruments blend with a lingering reverb, while Spit & Choke explodes with pounding punk energy, short, sharp and electrifying.

The final track, Still, is quite simply breathtaking. It is a profoundly personal piece that resonates deeply, delivering an emotional weight sure to raise the hair on your arms. A poignant and heartfelt closer, it lingers in your mind long after the music fades.

“Still is from a time when, to put it quite frankly, I was suffering.,” Shane says. “I went to the one place that’s special to all my family, that I love to this day, with every intention not to return. It’s hard to write this, but I was at peace with knowing that I didn’t have to think or feel about life anymore.

“That brought huge comfort and relief, I really didn’t mind if I remained still. Strangely, every line in this song hurts for completely different reasons now.”
